Pakistan Wants the World to See It as a Peacemaker. I Want It to Find My Father.
In @Diplomat_APAC, I write about what it means to spend seventeen years waiting for someone you are not even allowed to mourn and what that kind of cruelty does to a human being.

PAKISTAN: Today marks 17 years since the enforced disappearance of Deen Muhammad Baloch, who was taken from his place of work, Khuzdar Civil Hospital, on 28 June 2009. Despite repeated petitions to the courts, appeals to authorities, and tireless advocacy by his family, his whereabouts remain unknown.

🇦🇫 NEW: Pakistani airstrikes have killed hundreds of Afghan civilians this year while Islamabad simultaneously presents itself as a peacemaker between Iran and the U.S., according to a new Drop Site News investigation.
🔸 On June 10, Pakistani drones and fighter jets struck villages in Afghanistan’s Khost and Paktika provinces, killing at least 14 civilians, including women and children, and wounding at least 10 others, according to local residents and medical staff interviewed by Drop Site.
🔸 Nine members of one family were killed when two neighboring homes were destroyed in Khost. In nearby Paktika, three children were killed while sleeping outside their home.
🔸 By April 1, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan had verified at least 372 civilian deaths from Pakistani military operations this year. Drop Site reports the true toll is likely higher due to limited access for independent monitors.
🔸 Pakistan says the strikes were “precise and calibrated” operations against Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters. Residents interviewed by Drop Site denied the victims had any links to armed groups.
🔸 Pakistan’s campaign has expanded beyond airstrikes to include attacks on hospitals, schools, markets and roads, contributing to the displacement of border communities.

Tucker Carlson:
Many times I said on television, "The problem is Islam. The problem is Muslims. They all want to kill us. They're all crazy. They're all in this lunatic suicide cult created by Muhammad in the 7th century." And I believed that.
I was hysterical. I believed that. No, that's not true. Nothing about that is true, but I believed it.
I spent three days in the Christian town of Taybeh🇵🇸. I witnessed settlers nearly burn the town to the ground, watched Palestinian families east of Taybeh face invasions for 12 hours straight, and was assaulted by a police officer simply for being there and standing with the families.

PAKISTAN: Reacting to the life sentences given by Quetta’s Anti-Terrorism court to Baloch activists Mahrang Baloch and Sibghat Ullah Shah Jee on 22 June, Amnesty International said:
“This verdict, which is an affront to the right to a fair trial, demonstrates how Pakistan’s anti-terrorism laws are being cynically misused to silence peaceful dissent. The conviction and sentence followed an expedited secret trial conducted on jail premises, during which serious concerns were raised over international fair trial standards and due process. No direct evidence was presented linking Mahrang and Shah Jee to the alleged violence.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) Condemns Shameful Life Sentence for Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shah by Pakistani Authorities
The Hague, The Netherlands – June 23, 2026 – The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) expresses its strongest condemnation regarding the reprehensible life sentence handed down by a Pakistani Anti-Terrorism Court to prominent human rights defender Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleague, Sibghatullah Shah .
This verdict is a blatant miscarriage of justice and a devastating blow to the rule of law in Pakistan. Dr. Baloch, a leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has been a fearless and peaceful voice for the Baloch people, courageously campaigning against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and state repression in Balochistan . Her only crime is her dedication to exposing grave human rights violations .
The IHRF is deeply alarmed by the egregious procedural irregularities and denial of due process that characterized this “secret trial” . A proceeding that denies the accused the right to effectively cross-examine witnesses or present a proper defense, held in a “faceless court” on jail premises, cannot be considered a legitimate judicial process . This is not justice; it is a politically motivated weaponization of the judicial system to silence dissent and intimidate human rights defenders .
We echo the calls of Amnesty International and other international bodies, who have condemned this verdict as an affront to the right to a fair trial . The state’s cynical misuse of anti-terrorism laws to prosecute peaceful activism represents a dangerous escalation in the crackdown on fundamental freedoms in Pakistan .
The IHRF urges the Government of Pakistan to immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shah, and to ensure their safety and well-being.
We call upon the international community, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, to:
1. Denounce this injustice and place Pakistan under close scrutiny for its escalating human rights violations.
2. Demand transparency in all legal proceedings against human rights defenders and a full investigation into the circumstances of this case.
3. Pressure Pakistani authorities to cease the persecution of peaceful activists and uphold their international obligations regarding due process and fundamental rights.
The IHRF stands in solidarity with Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah, and all peaceful activists in Pakistan who risk their lives for justice and human dignity.
Join the campaign by posting on all social media platforms.
🔹 Share facts, statements, videos, and messages of solidarity.
🔹 Raise your voice against the criminalization of peaceful political activism.
🔹 Demand justice, transparency, and the release of political prisoners.
🔹 Tag journalists, human rights organizations, activists, and public representatives.
🔹 Encourage others to participate and keep the issue visible.
HRCP deplores the conviction of @MahrangBaloch_ and other members of the BYC. Regrettably, the state has continued its policy of dealing with advocacy for fundamental rights in the same way as it deals with militancy, leading to executive and judicial decisions that are lopsided and prejudiced. We demand a review of the ATC's decision at the earliest and the initiation of a political dialogue in Balochistan.
We urgently call on @UNHumanRights, @amnesty, @hrw, @UN_SPExperts, @ICRC, and the international community to closely monitor the situation of Mahrang Baloch and advocate for the protection of her fundamental rights, safety, and due process. The world must not stay silent when peaceful human rights advocacy is at risk. Immediate attention and action are needed. #SaveMahrangBaloch #StandWithMahrangBaloch #HumanRights #ProtectHumanRightsDefenders #BalochRights
No mercy then. No surprise now.
The same America destroying infrastructure today burned down the mud and straw huts of elderly Vietnamese women without a second thought.
Just the global dealer of "democracy and freedom" cards.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani did not attend the city’s Israel Day parade, becoming the first mayor in its 61-year history not to take part. It was attended by NY Senator Chuck Schumer, governor Kathy Hochul, and Israel’s extremist finance minister Smotrich who calls for “total annihilation” of Gaza and other right-wing Israeli officials.
