When we perpetuate concepts of otherness and only tell the stories of the majority, we limit access to that which we all crave--connection. Through words and story--by and about the very "others" some wish to silence--we create access and a stronger humanity. #PowerofStory
Media outlets... stop saying "but they didn't let that stop them" after introducing someone's diagnosis/disability.
Why do you assume disability and not ACCESS is what prevents people from doing anything?!
What bothers me more is the idea that every disability can be “overcome” and that there is some kind of moral lesson in managing to not be stopped dead in your tracks because your body is falling apart.
Just did that thing where I got the *best* idea for a story, quickly banged out a paragraph of my thoughts, opened a Word doc and... cursor blinks after two whole sentences. #writingcommunity Sigh...

Working on a project. Question for those with a #chronicillness: What do you wish you could say to help people who love you understand the illness better? What are some things folks can do that are helpful? Anything that ISN'T helpful? #NosyWriter#IntheLymeLife#LymeDisease
