This is a grave security warning to Somaliland government. Clearly President Cirro’s administration have shown lack of interest to have an open conflict with Dhulbahante and Sool Bari. But now that the world (UN) has confirmed the presence of Al Shabaab in Las Anod and their commitment to destroy Somaliland: what will President Cirro decide against Al Shabaab in Las Canod? I hope President Cirro will have the commitment to fight with Al Shabaab in Las Anod.
Last night in Davos, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, i met with the President of the State of Israel, @Isaac_Herzog at a high-level dinner. Our discussions focused on strengthening and advancing bilateral relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel.
I also met @EricTrump , an influential global figure and son of the President of the United States, as well as other senior global political figures and international leaders.
On what basis is Somalia a 'mother state' and Somaliland a 'breakaway state'?
Somaliland gained independence earlier than Somalia voluntarily joined the south in a union that was never consummated/wilfully botched, reclaimed its sovereignty in 1991 after the collapse of the ill-fated union.
Culturally, Somaliland is the standard bearer of the Somali language, the creative engine of Somali culture, spawning hundreds of poets, musicians, broadcasters and writers.
Meanwhile, the 'mother' in the south has become a cultural wasteland where music is banned, poetry is shunned, all artistes have become emigres.
So the south is still mother then?
Somaliland has been de facto state for over 30 years able to exercise full sovereignty while the south is a patchwork of competing authorities unable to form a genuine union.
The 'mother' then is a small slither of coastal enclave controlled by a 'government', dominated by one single clan called the Hawiye - a city state that is in control of less and less territory each year.
The myth of Mogadishu as 'mother' is laughable - a comforting piece of historical nostalgia or amnesia. It cannot be held up as reality.
Give us a break !
Recognition did not buy our faith.
It acknowledged a reality we’ve built for over 30 years.
Debate policy if you must — but our religion, legitimacy, and future are not up for discussion. 🟢⚪🔴✊🏽

Open letter to Somalia 🇸🇴
After salaam,
Ii warran? How do you feel tonight?
Since the year 1960 you have done all you can to erase Somaliland from existence. You weaponised state apparatus and attempted to ethnically cleanse us from our land and replace us with others.
How did that work out for you?
For more than 35 years, you rejected every brotherly overture extended by Somaliland. Not once did you come in good faith. Instead, you claimed ownership over us.
You officially labelled us the #2 enemy of your state after terrorist Al Shabab.
You blocked any meaningful development opportunity in an attempt to subdue our people and keep them needy.
During COVID, when humanity demanded solidarity, you chose cruelty. You monopolised vaccine supplies and intentionally blocked shipments to Somaliland, releasing them only 2 days before expiry.. fully prepared to letting our people die if it meant maintaining leverage.
At every moment, you made your contempt unmistakable: waa Maamul goboleed, gaal raac, qaldaan, Woqooyi.. and all the manufactured epithets you use to dehumanise and dismiss the people of Somaliland.
Now that we've arrive here, tell me:
Was all of this necessary?
Could you not just accept that just like we chose -- as an independent sovereign state -- to attempt a union, we could also willingly reclaim our sovereignty?
Would it have been too bad to treat your so called brother as an equal?
You are a malignant entity that feeds on the suffering of others. You inflicted pain, misery, and deprivation upon a people who have given up their state in an attempt to lift you up.
From outright mass-murdering mothers fleeing up to the Ethiopian border in 1988, to your relentless efforts in 2025 to cut up Somaliland and lock her out of every opportunity of a dignified existence, your record speaks for itself.
And against that backdrop...
We endured. We survived..
And we won.
May Allah give you the justice you deserve.
Yours,
Somaliland
Allaa mahad leh.
