Shooting Investigation
Press Release from KPD:
November 24, 2024, at approximately 7:40AM, Kokomo police responded to 602 South Lee Drive Apartment F reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a subject had been shot at the location. The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and was later transported to an Indianapolis hospital for further treatment. At the time of this release, the victim's status is serious. The Kokomo Police is actively searching for a person of interest identified as Lucio Contreras. Contreras may be driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu with a broken right taillight. Contreras may be heading to the Gary Indiana area. Contreras may be armed. If anyone has information regarding to this incident, you are urge to contact 765-456-7017. You can also text a tip to us by texting TIPKPD, then a space, and the. your tip and send to 847411. Remember all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wild morning across the Hoosier State. Officer involved shooting in Mitchell left one suspect DRT and two Officers wounded; a Mitchell Officer & a Lawrence County Deputy. Another Officer involved shooting in the city of Marion. Suspect from that shooting is DRT, no Officers hurt.
