@AndeJacqueline @Adriane_BEd_ I agree with you, Jacqueline. Liberal Profession is a new term for me, so I looked up the definitions and examples, but teachers are not mentioned in the list of the LP. Are teachers (RECE) liberal professions?
@ChristinaTiffin@BrydgesPatrese@MedicoSophia Same! I had to create a Twitter account for this course learning, but its benefit is I feel competent with using various social media platforms!
@MedicoSophia I used to have one personal account on Facebook, but I had to make another one to share with my supervisor. I can't tell whether it is professional or personal because it is just a blank account.
@NatalieWaterst2 I think if you want to enhance your online presence through social media for your career, the most important thing is it has to be current. It means you continuously update yourself in your profession and share it through social media to advertise yourself.
@RobinFindlay2@Sierra_xo3 I hear you, Robin! I still feel uncomfortable that I won't use it. However, it is a good idea to interact with a certain group (mom to mom).
@Sierra_xo3 I have only used once the FB to sell a set of winter tires, and it worked. Many people contacted and I had to check their profiles before responding to them. I thought they must do the same as I did. I felt like I exposed myself to a bunch of strangers!
@Cait__Johnson I have not been hired through social media, but my supervisor asked if I have a Facebook account to share with her because she wanted to add me to the staff group. I had to make another account to share with co-workers. Lol

She suggested a great piece of advice to sharing information on social media that I would like to share. #EDST1160U#GM3Noon

@ChristinaTiffin@Ieva59235001 Thank you for sharing your thought Sophia and Christina! As you mentioned, I guess we do have some control over our online identity by using different social media platforms to separate personal and professional ones.
@Adriane_BEd_ @Ieva59235001 Yes! Whatever we post on our social media, it stays forever! That's what Enriquez awakened us to consider online sharing that can be permanent as a tattoo.
@Ieva59235001 Ieva and Cerian, Do you think online identities can ever be real? Then why are we so worried about reflecting ourselves accurately in the online world?
@Ieva59235001@AndeJacqueline In my opinion, we have one identity, but it doesn't mean we have one personality. We behave differently depending on the situation and context; however, it does not refer to multiple identities.
@BrydgesPatrese@HelenTayCam I feel the same way as Patrese. I can make connections on social media, but I consider those connections are not real unless I meet the person offline. By the way, I am not very active on social media either, which may influence my thoughts.
@AndeJacqueline@Ieva59235001 I wondered if you use different names and profile photos, do you think it still represents you as well as your other one? What's the point of doing that? It seems like keeping different social media profile need to create a different persona (online identity).
@TheMarcoPereira@Ieva59235001 I agree with you, Marco, and I think there is no private place in the online space. Once you post anything on your social media, even if you share it between your friends and family, they can retweet or share your image, video or post without your permission.
@AndeJacqueline I guess I get information about what my friends and family are doing and the things that happen to them. Basically, I tried to keep in touch with them.
@rbqDinghy@MsReyes1586 It is a good point, and in the article, this quote caught my attention, "Social media is very similar to a slot machine." Do you think a gambling addict should blame a slot machine?
