🚨TRAILER🚨#InHospitable shines a light on a dirty little secret of the health care industry. Watch as patients & activists battle UPMC, a billion dollar nonprofit hospital system in Pittsburgh. https://t.co/xljO2C43IT
A recent state law in Indiana may lead to an increase in proposed hospital mergers. The state already has some of the highest hospital prices in the country, and some fear that mergers will lead to increased cost for consumers.

Thanks @GeBaiDC and others for saying it: Many hospital sx are now diversified companies with tendrils in various industries. Not charities. Why does the IRS still grant non-profit status & tax exemption? @PostOpinions@KFFHealthNews https://t.co/qlBqdexXU9
Nurses at FOUR hospitals in Western PA are going to be negotiating contracts this summer!
United, they are ready to take bold action to improve the standard of care for every hospital in the region.
Beware: Failed contract negotiations between mammoth insurers and hospitals mean that patients can loose doctors at any time -- even during cancer treatment. It's happening and it's just wrong. Mine for @PostOpinions and @KFFHealthNews https://t.co/nueNN9HE34
Update on my nearly $5000 medical bill for dehydration:
1) Still in limbo with @MayoClinic, no clarity or progress negotiating charges.
2) Surprised to hear some ER doctors are upset over my complaint about a $10,000 bill ($5000 post-insurance adjustment) for < 12hrs in ED with 3 IV bags + labs, EKG
3) Received excellent care, definitely not blaming docs, but flawed systems- esp coding & billing.
4) Systemic issues at play: defensive medicine, opaque pricing, exorbitant markups, billing discrepancies.
5) Grateful to @USATODAY for shedding light. Not about me—it's about 100 million in medical debt & millions more avoiding necessary care due to fear of costs. 😞

Analysis from Kodiak Solutions, as reported by The Guardian, reveals a troubling trend: the majority of medical debt in the US is held by patients with insurance. Lawmakers must step in to address this crisis.

New poll from @SmlBizMajority shows small business owners are struggling with 📈 health care costs and support policies - some being actively considered by Congress - to⬇️costs.
88% support banning facility fees and other unfair billing practices.

🙌 Bill that would regulate hospital mergers in Washington passes House, may join other legislation protecting abortion access @SpokesmanReview https://t.co/Jjq6krTpUK
We appreciate the Administration’s efforts to date to implement the No Surprises Act. An initial review of the NSA Independent Dispute Resolution data raises concerns about the actions of certain providers.

Terrific to see the @FTC being more active going after hospital mergers that lessen competition. Give @linakhanFTC and the administration credit: they said they were going to prioritize competition in health care markets and they're acting on that promise https://t.co/eOWXcReute
The ACA mandated certain preventive services should be free for patients. America's medical billing juggernaut is finding ways to charge them. Has this happened to you? Don't pay. Mine @PostOpinions@KFFHealthNews. https://t.co/KPate14TFb
“Given their ostensible community-serving mission, one might expect exactly this kind of behavior from nonprofit hospitals, but there is ample evidence that nonprofit hospitals act like for-profit organizations.” https://t.co/zYpQO5PvrU
