This morning at mass, the priest used this quote:

“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

How true is this when it comes to our CEO of government department? I know some have been CEOs of departments for decades…. how many of them, I wonder, started with good intentions and values toward working for the betterment of the department, and more importantly, Tonga, only to be CEO long enough to lose those intentions and values toward working.

Now we are stuck with them in these positions for many government terms and many more to come. Should we question why the same people are always chosen as CEO whenever the CEO job is open for people to bid their interest for the job?

Happy Sunday everyone.

Just as I was talking to children & young people in Tonga today about the importance of disaster preparedness, we experienced an earthquake.

Thanks to early warning systems, we were soon informed that there was no threat of a tsunami.

These tools are vital for so many - in the Pacific & beyond.

The @UN is working to ensure that early warning systems protect every person on Earth by the end of 2027.
