I can’t even count the number of exams I’ve written in med school. From mid modules, to EOM to end of year exams supervised by MDC including OSCEs, Pic OSCEs, VIVA, numerous theories and MCQs.
We used to write exams every 2 weeks and you think I’m afraid of 200 MCQs?? Funny 😹🤣
and they’re right to do so. how is this exam any different from what they take in their respective schools which are also supervised by MDC ? what is so special about this 200 MCQs ?
If a medical graduate has already proved their competence in their university’s final qualifying exams supervised by MDC, what does examining that competence twice achieve?
We’re asking the MDC a question Ghana deserves an answer to.

FGMSA challenges implementation of common registration examination for medical graduates 3news.com/news/fgmsa-challenges-implementation-of-common-registration-examination-for-medical-graduates #MedicalExamination#Graduates#MDC
Apt! The MDC cannot proceed without involving the most critical of stakeholders, the students in decision making. And to deny a call for stakeholder discussions is deeply disappointing. MDC must do better!
This afternoon, I join Hello 101.5 FM to discuss FGMSA’s position on the MDC Common Registration Examination.
Our concern is not with standards. It is with duplication.
3:00 PM. Tune in. 🎙️🇬🇭

The Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations (FGMSA) has opposed the proposed mandatory Common Registration Examination for locally trained doctors, arguing that it duplicates existing examinations already required for medical graduates.

These elders went through the same system and all of a sudden they want a standardized exam
I mean the idea is great but how does it change current practices? What have they seen over the yrs to merit this? Poor patient care? What? Cos the exams you write in that sch nbs
you can’t use 200 MCQs to assess the clinical skills and judgement needed for someone’s competency to practise medicine in Ghana. 2050gh for 200 mcqs??? Ridiculous
Dear Ghana, 🇬🇭
May we have your attention? There is a conversation we need to have.
I am Samuel Issifu, President & Chief Spokesperson of the Federation representing over 6,000 medical & dental students, @Gh_Fgmsa.
Today, we place our position before Ghana.

DIAGNOSIS OF PREGNANCY PRIOR TO 1960:
1. Obtain urine sample from patient.
2. Inject urine into female rabbit.
3. Wait 48 hours.
4. Kill rabbit.
5. Examine rabbit ovaries. If enlarged/abnormal due to hCG, woman is pregnant.
6. Call husband with result. (Sad but true. See Mad Men for excellent depiction of this practice).
The phrase "the rabbit died" became a euphemism for pregnancy.
There's a line in the Aerosmith song Sweet Emotion about this: "You can't catch me cuz the rabbit done died, yes it did!"
