😳This was a study I was waiting for: does appealing to the (non-existent) “emotions“ of LLMs make them perform better?
The answer is YES. Adding “this is important for my career” or “You better be sure” to a prompt gives better answers, both objectively & subjectively!
Two different dev teams:
Team A: a group of senior and above engineers go away and make important architecture decisions that the rest of the team will then follow.
Team B: all engineers are invited to discuss architecture suggestions/directions before they are put in place.
I’ve managed to figure out a lot of the adult parts of life that no one ever explains to you, but I still am completely incompetent at ballpark estimating the amount of socks I will need for a trip, with any degree of confidence. It always half of what I need or 350% more.
