I thought #Bitcoin mining and crypto was a colossal waste of energy. Little did I know AI would dwarf the empty and redundant computing cycle usage.
Is this a version of Moore's law now? Our computational and energy waste will keep increasing exponentially?
@DarioCpx AI can start using the scientific method to conduct its own experiments and test hypotheses. It will then generate new datasets, knowledge, scientific discovery. Even by mere trial and error, it will gradually move its needle. It will be game over then.

He's gonna break the market this time, isn't he? And take down Japan with him. Came close during the COVID pump, but this ponzi of print yen-give to SoftBank-buy tech-circle around into tech cannot be sustainable.
@LongFormMath It only means solution was out there given existing literature and logic. Humans didn't have the bandwidth and memory to see it, and were brute forcing through permutations

Nothing like a nice safe haven, collecting an almost 5% divvy while the market crashes, right? Let's rotate out of the stock bubble and into bonds ๐
That decision will cost you at least one annual dividend. Don't be smart
Isn't all the AI hardware's ultimate goal to create better software? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Why are we trading as if robots will have native embedded instruction sets?

We won't have UBI and opulence when AI takes over.
We can have that now if we wanted to. But people abhor equality. We could end hunger, homelessness, wars today if we wanted to. We don't. What makes you think AI will magically make us better humans?
@pmddomingos All the incredibly complex neurochemical reactions and proteins in our DNA do indeed resemble AI generated slop code. All of that just to synthesize a farting machine that can move. Like black box details buried in a long forgotten abstraction layer.
@disclosetv Nothing new and original can be expected of this. Just data-mine and overfit to death. Even if the agents make it seem adaptive and self-recalibrating, they are still executing brute force permutations of the already overused techniques from the training data. Nothing more
@Jesse_Livermore@memeticsisyphus By that logic, you purchased it pricing in the chance of property taxes getting eliminated at some point in the near future as well. Not inconceivable since many could see it was unsustainable.
All priced in. Real estate price might actually fall after the event
Politics and governments, in their present form, are just holding the human race back.
A shameful atavism for our species.
Preoccupied with problems that wouldn't even exist without the parties trying to "solve" them
Prediction markets are being used to sway public opinion, guide narratives, and approval-test policies.
The mere listing of an event legitimizes it and puts it in public discourse, thus desensitizing and habituating people to an idea.
Powerful stuff, pure manipulation
