We don't have to see everything in black and white. It is not about whether you are with the Army or against it. We support the army to do its lawful job to protect our borders. Every soldier fighting on the frontline is our pride but it does not give military top brass the license to shape the country and our collective freedoms in their perverse vision. We must vehemently oppose any policy and decision whether by the Govt, Supreme Court or the Military which compromises our freedoms and jeapordizes our future. We are a polity of 240 million people with collective and individual aspirations, we are not cattle who can be herded by self styled Shepard's in whichever direction they deem fit.

Firstly, in his video, Matiullah was presenting the perspective of a victim’s brother, which is a journalist’s responsibility to ensure all points of views, rather than blindly accepting the state’s narrative.

As for verifying whether there were deaths during the PTI protest, that too falls squarely within the scope of his duties as a journalist.

Otherwise, why is the government withholding hospital data on injuries sustained by protesters, and why are medical staff refusing to speak to the media?

Lastly, it is deeply troubling that Punjab’s Information minister believes any of this—whether genuine reporting or even the dissemination of false information—could justify abduction or the filing of fabricated FIRs.
