@GambiaRedCross trained 75 border officials nationwide in Basic First Aid & Psychological First Aid to better support migrants in distress.
Thanks to GID, @CruzRojaEsp, & Cabildo de Gran Canaria for the partnership in strengthening humanitarian response at borders.
The Regional Director of @IFRCAfrica visited the GID Tanji Reception Center, where migrants intercepted along the coast are sheltered.
Together with @CruzRojaEsp, @GambiaRedCross supports migrants with:
✅ Shelter
✅ Hot meals
✅ Psychosocial support
✅ Restoring Family Links
The situation of Malian refugees in Mauritania remains largely unchanged since our story was published 👇 https://t.co/JTO6x0LUMD
Thousands are living in dire conditions and still lack adequate shelter, food, water, sanitation, and healthcare. The growing influx is straining already limited resources in a region battling food insecurity and poor access to basic services.
@IFRC and @CMauritanien are on the ground providing vital support—but it’s not enough. Urgent support is needed to meet rising needs and prevent further suffering.
#NotAlone # #WorldRefugeeDay
#PasSeuls #NotAlone
On #WorldRefugeeDay, we stand in solidarity with the millions of people displaced by the Sudan conflict inside the country and in neighboring countries.
With support from @IFRC, the @SRCS_SD is providing life-saving aid to families forced to flee their homes.
#NotAlone
On #WorldRefugeeDay, we honour the strength and resilience of refugees. Every journey begins with loss - but also with hope. When we welcome and include refugees, we build stronger, more compassionate communities for everyone. #SolidarityWithRefugees
When floods hit The Gambia in 2022, over 600 households received cash, healthcare & clean water from @GambiaRedCross. Climate disasters are displacing communities now — but local action is helping them adapt.

Floods, droughts and storms are forcing millions from their homes. In 2024, Africa alone saw 7.8 million disaster displacements (IDMC).
The new @IFRC report, ‘Forced to Flee in a Changing Climate’, shows how Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies — and others in impacted communities —are helping people adapt, stay safe, or move with dignity.
At the IFRC, we recognize that locally led action is central to reducing the risks of displacement and meeting the needs of those already displaced. This report is a call to action, to invest in local actors, empower communities, and ensure that no one is left behind.
Because behind every statistic is a human story. https://t.co/pa6OE4FlbF
In 2024, 7.8 million disaster displacements occurred in Africa alone (IDMC).
As climate impacts grow, the urgency for action rises. Locally led solutions help communities adapt, stay resilient, and make choices on their own terms.

Heartbreaking.
People in Gaza are in dire need, with extremely limited access to aid or essential services.
The population is once again facing an acute risk of famine, with conditions the worst they've been in 19 months. Basic food supplies are no longer available in markets or distribution points, making it impossible to meet the minimum nutritional needs of over one million displaced people.
Without safe access - families will starve.
Without safe access - humanitarian workers can't save lives.
I reiterate my call for a safe and unhindered humanitarian space to allow the continuous flow of critical aid.
The Gambia Red Cross Society thanks the @IFRCAfrica and @RCClimate for supporting our Climate Screening sessions, including the Migration Team from @ifrc#Africa and #Geneva.
Your support is key to strengthening our climate efforts and building resilient communities.
Today, I had the privilege to join the opening of the International Conference's Spotlight session on migration addressing the pressing humanitarian challenges, emphasizing the complex nature of the issue.
Migration is a phenomenon, not a crisis. Our mission at the @IFRC is simple yet profound: we serve people – human beings – regardless of their legal status, but by shared dignity and humanity.
The role of local actors is crucial in these migration contexts, they are the ones driving meaningful change in their communities.
Our IFRC network is committed to supporting people on their journeys, ensuring access to essential services, safety, and dignity. #RCRC24
In Central and West Africa, devastating floods have displaced hundreds of thousands, leaving many without homes.
At @ifrc, we are working with Red Cross Red Crescent teams to deliver lifesaving immediate aid and long-term programs to build resilient communities.

From January to March 2024, Lesotho faced severe heatwaves and high temperatures, exacerbating widespread crop dryness and failures across many regions.
With the help of IFRC-DREF, @LesothoRedCross will assist 12,500 people across four districts. This support will be provided through sustainable interventions such as access to clean water, crop production initiatives, and multipurpose cash transfers.
By mid-2023, over 110 million people had been forcibly displaced.
For them and all migrants, the sight of our IFRC teams is a sign of hope and a reminder: they are #NotAlone on their journey. https://t.co/E7uPqQ90Xy
Purtroppo, stamani alcuni bombardamenti dell'artiglieria hanno colpito i piani superiori della sede della Mezzaluna Rossa palestinese a Khanyounis.
La sede ospitava anche molti sfollati, e si contano diversi feriti.
