It is very important we implement LVT & YIMBY urbanism before AI kills us all.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

@TheAndresRosa After watching a clip of it or what?
Although you're probably right there's a whole class of sensing things there: interpreting emotions from audio/video rather than text, maybe finding hidden people in an image.
Although if it tried hard not sure on last one.
@Authw8@LinkofSunshine This eliminates all of the injustice & disproprortion complaints of actual "3 strikes" laws, the only problem is it's slightly hard to explain :(
@Authw8@LinkofSunshine Not # of previous convictions, but number of years prison previously sentenced. This makes it wonderfully sensitive to severity of previous offending.
And then make it a multiplier to the current sentence, & it it's sensitive to current offense too!

A "3 strikes law lite" where your sentence is increased by a function of the sum of your previous sentences would be far better than the NZ status quo of SFA uplift for repeat offenders, and not as prone to injustice as the actual 3 strikes law.
Problem is judiciary hates math.
@fuller_brandon@Rafa_Mangual I like this as an effort to find a middle ground between a blunt 3-strikes law & a beautifully elegant but too complex for judges exponential formula.

@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke You can do embryo selection now, including on polygenic IQ so on, and people aren't beating down the doors for it. Just having to do IVF rather than natural is a big barrier, both practical & financial, we're talking pretty serious medicine here.
@akshen121 I'm pretty sure the physics on the swing ride is wrong. I've never heard of one that has the riders swing inwards like that, seems very difficult and dangerous to pull off.
@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke It won't be the norm at first, it'll gradually become popular (unless it gets banned outright by being associated with totalitarian atrocities).
And you're proposing to prevent some chance of someone regretting their existence by just killing them before they get a chance.
@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke And the peers of the baseline humans would be other baseline humans, same as today.
You're taking a non-obvious theory of mind here, extrapolating it wildly, and justifying atrocities on this flimsy foundation.
@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke I'm open to the possibility that I'll see something very much like this in my lifetime if Culture-style Minds become a thing.
I wouldn't be *happy* about being a relative chimp, but the thought of that hardly drives me to despair.
@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke "heavily inclined to commit suicide" is an empirical claim with strong evidence against it. We don't see particularly elevated suicide rates amongst people at the bottom of society today.
Sure, it's sub-optimal, but you're proposing a greater evil to prevent a lesser one.
@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke By far the most likely outcome (if anything) of you advocating this is continued restrictions on even non-coercive eugenics as you keep alive the (unnecessary) link between eugenics & totalitarian evils in people's minds.
@0xToade@MainstreamViews@keaganwernicke Even ignoring the moral abhorrence of your position, on a purely strategic level most people are so disgusted by it that you'll never get it off the ground: more likely there'd be a backlash to even the suggestion (as we see with eugenics post Nazism.)
