To mark Heat Action Day 2026, observed on 2 June, the @Iranian_RCS conducted awareness and community outreach activities to help people recognize indoor heat risks and protect themselves during extreme heat.
Through educational sessions, volunteer outreach, and awareness materials, communities learned practical ways to stay safe, stay hydrated, and reduce the health impacts of heat.
A simple visit can save lives during extreme heat.
Check on elderly people, individuals living alone, and those with chronic illnesses. Community support is one of the strongest tools for preventing heat-related illness.

Today is Heat Action Day.
As global temperatures continue to rise, heatwaves, an already silent and deadly killer, are becoming more extreme. Addressing the rising global threat of heatwaves is a priority for the @IFRC.
As the IFRC continues to prepare and adapt communities to this already changing climate,
we call on world leaders to take decisive action to protect vulnerable communities worldwide.
We all have a role to play. Join us, and let’s beat the heat together.
Gaza (2009): The ICRC reported that many children were killed by explosive weapons in populated areas, and humanitarian teams worked to support civilians under extreme pressure.
Real examples of Red Crescent
Iraq (2016): The ICRC documented heavy explosive attacks in Fallujah. Afterward, it helped support wounded civilians and emergency medical needs in conflict-affected areas.
Yemen (2015): After airstrikes destroyed Haydan Hospital in Sa’da, around 200,000 people were left without lifesaving care. The Red Cross response focused on urgent medical assistance.
Libya (2019): During fighting in Tripoli, the ICRC recorded the displacement of over 120,000 civilians and provided humanitarian support for people forced to flee.
Extreme heat puts lives at risk, especially children, older people, and vulnerable communities.
Share water, check on those around you, and help others stay hydrated. Small actions can prevent heat-related illness and save lives.

During periods of extreme heat, a simple act of kindness can save lives.
Check on elderly people and those living with chronic illnesses. A phone call, a visit, or helping them stay hydrated can make all the difference.

Tackling climate change is not limited to individual behavior; it starts within the places we live and work.
To protect our health and the health of future generations, it is time to rethink how we equip our cities and buildings to withstand the continuous rise in temperatures.

During armed conflict, the Red Cross/Red Crescent provides essential medical assistance, restores family links, and visits detainees to ensure humane treatment. Their neutral, impartial presence is a lifeline for those suffering the consequences of war.
Powerful discussions in Geneva with the Iranian Red Crescent. Behind every statistic are lives at risk — and dedicated teams working tirelessly to save them. Urgent needs require urgent international solidarity.
Communities across Iran continue to face growing humanitarian needs following the outbreak of the conflict.
See the numbers below highlighting the impact on communities and the response of the @Iran_RCS supporting people affected across the country.
Humanitarian workers and volunteers must be protected at all times.
Humanitarian volunteers often carry the emotional impact of the crises they respond to.
Hamed Mehrpouyan, a volunteer with the Iranian Red Crescent Society, shares a reminder of how important psychosocial support is not only for affected communities, but also for responders supporting people through difficult moments.
Thank you to all @Iran_RCS volunteers for continuing to stand beside communities with humanity and compassion.
