#Invasive species can do serious damage to our waterways and to the quality of angling. Good #biosecurity is essential to stop the spread. Please like and share to spread the word, not the invasives! :-)

@BenjaminGearey Mmmm....yes, by definition, they are. But some are badder than others. A lot of work goes into assessing the impacts, both negative and positive, before any action is taken on them. Best to avoid introducing them in the first place. :-)
As well as threatening wildlife, invasive alien species are estimated to cost economic damage of at least €12.5 billion a year in Europe.
The #BewareOfAliens awareness campaign focuses on key messages for key audiences. Download free materials from

Fantastic for @CERIS_ATUSligo to have been a lead partner on this project with @UK_CEH. Multiple sectoral teams across the EU will work to disseminate our co-created IAS materials. Positive spread for once! Also thanks to @Secretariat_IAS

Our own Darren Garland beaming in to #ICAIS2022 all the way from Sligo, discussing elodea control measures on Lough Arrow. Great work, in conjunction with local anglers and IFI amongst others.
