Building muscle gives you some latitude
Muscle:
- boosts metabolism: burning calories for each pound of muscle you carry - even while resting or on days off
- acts as a sponge for blood sugar and insulin > instant regulated levels of both so your body more efficiently burns stored fat as fuel (and is storing less visceral fat)
Takes a lot of work up front to build a good amount of muscle & then to get lean, but after that - it makes maintaining a lot more sustainable.
@lady_valor_07 I used to eat fast food far more regularly. Once I started eliminating high glycemic carbs - fast food menus got a lot less fun, and it forced me to cook more large batch stuff at home.
I always incorporate cheat days in my diets - but won’t waste a cheat day on fast food.
Aside from the mental acuity benefits most associate with caffeine, it has several important health benefits:
When taken is a reasonable 2-3x/day - it can artificially boost your metabolism
Taking regularly throughout the day - caffeine is a diuretic, & will help keep your digestive system working on a regular schedule. Super important to get waste out of your system asap!!! Probably THE most important benefit of caffeine.
@ThrillaRilla369 There are also people that like candy corn! So I am sure there are a few! Years from now, I feel we will find they were part of some covert government experiment! 🤣
@RamsGUNDAPA@dr_ericberg Yes! I take a fairly descent daily dose. As soon as anything feels the slightest bit off (or family gets sick) - triple the dose until in the clear.
Water soluble — so tough to take too much!
@RamsGUNDAPA@dr_ericberg I had a friend early on that was a big Linus Pauling believer.
I started taking vitamin c over 30 years ago.
I am NEVER sick (2 times in last 14 years - both were strep my wife brought home from school 😐). I believe vitamin C is a big part of that! 👍
Fish Oil - Omega-3 for me
I am 52 - achy joints & frequent bicep/tricep tendonitis flare-ups
I only ever try changing 1 variable at any given time - so I know what works & what doesn’t. Have started & quit tons of crap (80% + is crap)
Adding fish oil gel caps has pretty much eliminated my tendonitis. I have gone for a longer stretch than ever without a flare-up. Shoulder has been better too.
I used to get cravings where it felt like I was crashing unless I ate or drank something with some sugar.
I cut sugar & high glycemic carbs & that has been gone for over a year now.
Still eat carbs - but high protein & high fat. Doesn’t feel like a diet. I love food — I could never do the “chicken & rice for every meal” unless I was getting paid serious $$$ for it…
At least cut sugar & high glycemic carbs.
And limit artificial sweeteners (which can stimulate the same cravings).
High protein / high fat diet will keep you satiated & will keep your blood sugar & insulin in a good place. Don’t need to go full keto unless you really want to.
@CaryKelly11 100%!!!
Cut high glycemic carbs & the results will be dramatic!
High protein / high fat is the way to go! Doesn’t even feel like a “diet”!
Don’t need to go full keto if you do not want to!
