Given the above, can you confirm whether you continue to see individuals operating as Sole Proprietors as an entity model that is eligible for a B2B exemption?

If Sole Proprietorships and other business entities comprised by single individuals are, in fact, eligible for B2B exemptions, paragraphs (b)(2) and (b)(3) of #AB1850 should *explicitly* address this. #FixAB5

THREAD:
We must acknowledge ***fundamental disconnect*** between:
- Purported #AB5 intent: To protect CA workers
&
- A #FixAB5 reality: Workers bearing costs (via forced incorporation, etc.)
We believe the cause is ambiguous wording re: B2B exemption eligibility.

@iNextz@LorenaSGonzalez Couldn't agree more!!
There is a ***fundamental disconnect*** between what @LorenaAD80 has publicly stated (Sole Proprietorships: eligible for B2B exemption) and interpretation from Hiring Entities (Only LLCs, SCorps, CCorps). This needs to be explicit in #SB1850.
@LaguardiaCG @LorenaSGonzalez Exactly! AND
***This #SmallBiz model is preferred by all stakeholders!***
By clients b/c they know we vet translators carefully and they can rely on our QA processes & work product;
By translators b/c they know we treat them with dignity & respect.

Why would the California Legislature want to undermine the backbone of the state’s economy? This is what those who voted for #AB5 have done. The errors in the law are ANTI-WOMEN, ANTI-IMMIGRANT and ANTI-WORKER and must be fixed. #FixAB5#FreedomtoFreelance
@LorenaSGonzalez So even though the intent of the law was to protect the worker and provide benefits, it’s ultimately the translator who bears the burden, either through lost wages form clients who don’t hire in CA anymore or via extra $$$ to incorporate. /end
@LorenaSGonzalez The translation industry is a BORDERLESS industry. AB5 is disincentiving hiring in CA. Many large translation agencies are simply not hiring in CA translators, *despite* the fact that many ICs are nominally compliant with AB5. Too much risk.
