We often harbor malice, resentment, and envy in our hearts, but the heart of a Sufi is free from such impurities. A Sufi’s heart is not constrained by these negative emotions. The heart of a true mystic is like the earth itself. People trample the earth with their feet, yet it never causes them any pain. The earth remains spread out, always offering itself. Just as Allah has created the earth to be spread out for us, a Sufi, too, remains humble and open. Even if someone walks over them, the Sufi remains smiling and unaffected.
