تا وقتی دو تا مشکل اساسی رو تو ذهنیتمون حل نکنیم حتی براندازی هم نجاتمون نمی‌ده! اول اینکه دست از منجی‌سازی برداریم، وقتی منتظر یک منجی هستیم، در واقع داریم از خودمان سلب مسئولیت می‌کنیم، ناخودآگاه می‌گیم من که کاری از دستم برنمیاد پس می‌شینم تا یک قهرمان بیاید و کارها را ردیف کنه، این تفکر باعث می‌شه جامعه به جای اینکه خودش آستین بالا بزنه، نهادهای مدنی بسازه و قدم‌ به‌ قدم برای حقوقش بجنگه، تبدیل به تماشاچی منفعل بشه.
مشکل دیگه اینه که این روند باعث تولید دیکتاتور جدید میشه، وقتی از یک سیاستمدار منجی می‌سازید، او را به مقام مقدس و غیرقابل نقد ارتقا می‌دیم، وقتی کسی در ذهن جامعه تبدیل به قهرمان افسانه‌ای شد، دیگر کسی جرأت نمی‌کنه ازش حسابرسی کنه یا روی کارهایش نظارت داشته باشه، قدرت بدون نظارت، هر انسان سالمی را به مرور زمان فاسد و تبدیل به دیکتاتور می‌کنه! آدمها بی‌نقص نیستند همه خطا می‌کنن، منافع شخصی دارن و گاهی تصمیمات غلط می‌گیرن، وقتی شما یک آدم معمولی را در حد منجی بالا می‌بری با اولین اشتباه یا باگش کاخ آرزوهای جامعه فرو می‌ریزه، جامعه‌ای که دیروز در اوج امیدواری بود، دچار افسردگی، سرخوردگی و ناامیدی مطلق می‌شه و فکر می‌کنه همه مثل همن و هیچ‌چیز درست نمی‌شه و از همه اینا مهمتر، سیاستمدارها رو سیاه و سفید نبینیم، به لطف شبکه‌های اجتماعی و اینترنت، دست همه رو شده و دوران بت‌سازی و رهبران کاریزماتیک مقدس سر اومده، باید عمل‌گرا باشیم، ببینیم هر کسی چه پتانسیلی داره و چطور می‌تونه نیاز امروز ما رو برطرف کنه، نگاهمون فقط باید به کفه ترازوی سود و زیانش باشه، هر وقت هم تاریخ مصرفش تموم شد و کارایی نداشت، بزنیم زیر کونشون و بریم سراغ نفر بعدی!

This is exactly what many women from Iran, Afghanistan, and other Islamic countries find so painful.

You describe the hijab as a sign of respect and cultural appreciation. For millions of women, it is a symbol of coercion, discrimination, and state control over their bodies.

For decades, women in Iran have been arrested, beaten, imprisoned, and even killed for refusing to wear it. Afghan girls are denied basic rights and education under authorities who justify their actions through the same religious framework. Yet Western politicians often go out of their way to celebrate or normalize symbols that many of these women have spent their lives resisting.

The issue is not visiting a mosque or respecting Muslim citizens. The issue is whether elected officials are willing to distinguish between respecting people and endorsing symbols associated with systems that have been used to justify compulsory veiling, child marriage, polygamy, unequal rights for women, persecution of LGBTQ people, and severe restrictions on personal freedom.

You were supposed to be a voice for women’s rights. That is why it is so disappointing to see you willingly wear, outside a mosque and in a public political context, a symbol that millions of women are risking everything to remove.

Respect for communities should never come at the expense of solidarity with those fighting oppression within them.
