Eleven years ago at @oredev Forever my favorite conference ❤️ It was such a blast (always is), but the impromptu aerial yoga was probably the best part. Or pretending to know boxing and nearly getting a piercing ‘punched’ out 🤣
Get into what's new in .NET MAUI at this year's #dotNETConf.
Join us for the livestream to get introduced to what’s new in .NET 9 and see how companies are being successful shipping production quality applications with .NET MAUI.

@danieltharris@augmentcode And Visual Studio is nice, but the host disconnects now and then which frustrates me. But if I wasn’t on a Mac I’d probably use Visual Studio simply because I’m a Windows person and a Visual Studio fan ☺️
A colleague of mine created a class where we have all our MAUI workarounds. Makes it easier to reevaluated our hacks when we upgrade .NET MAUI versions and issues are fixed. Wish we had done this with Xamarin 😅 #netmaui
@danieltharris We use Rider at work, but I’ve used a windows VM and visual studio with a remote host for personal projects, and also used Visual Studio Code when I did alpha testing of @augmentcode . Rider doesn’t jell well with Xamarin and MAUI mixed solutions, while Code lacks UI driven stuff
Tomorrow is the big day! Any suggestions for last minute additions? The ‘robo’ spider is for scaring the kids knocking on the door. Walkie talkie hidden in the bushes, and spooky music/sounds w outdoor speakers.
@dotMorten It’s a bit dramatic 😆 But the file was much longer when we got started almost a year ago. We are happy with MAUI (overall, I mean- I’m a dev and will always complain 😝)
@dotMorten It’s not very long! Mainly some issues with shadows on Android and at least it’s far easier than how we had to deal with them in Xamarin 😅 Don’t why Android insists on being so special 😂
@jfversluis Nothing major at the moment, mostly shadow issues on Android (crashing when view is modified in setupcontents), and some aspect ratio stuff. We are still on 8, so I assume things are different once v9.x is out. (We can’t use prerelease)
But thank you 🙏
@eclipsed4utoo Haha, yeah unfortunately I can’t. Public company, IP etc. but I do share snippets here and there on my blog (and its permission from my dev manager).
@dotnetcore We don’t want to submit a PR that isn’t thought through, and covers edge cases etc. that would just create additional problems, and also steal more of our time.
I have been active in the MAUI repo though, and when time allows I contribute.
@dotnetcore It’s not just as simple as submitting our own hacks (which are specific for our needs). For example, we’ve fixed one issue by using a mapper, but the real fix would require changes to the underlying handler which also means tests and more.
@danieltharris Only 296 lines (with conditional compilation for two platforms), so not so bad actually! Xamarin was far worse! Just the shadow management for Android was 1000 lines or so 😅
My kids Walkie Talkie is picking police radio!
"Is it national for Krokskär?"
"It is national. But then we won’t handle it."
I’ve had an irrational fear they’d come knocking on my door so I made sure I had cinnamon buns and coffee ready 😂
(Police in Sweden is friendly)
Always a pleasure traveling with @KLM . I’m
obviously being sarcastic because my luggage is smashed, clothes are wet and dirty and items are missing.
And the best part? KLM claim page doesn’t work and returns 404. And support is closed.
