A DMK man, James Raja, has been arrested by @CityTirunelveli police for making defamatory remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. He is reportedly a former IT worker. Police sources also ruled out the claim that the accused is mentally ill & said that he was jailed only after obtaining a medical fitness certificate
Breaking: Chief minister C Joseph Vijay has ordered the closure of 717 TASMAC liquor outlets functioning within 500 metres of places of worship, educational institutions and bus stands across Tamil Nadu within two weeks.
According to the government, the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation currently operates 4,765 retail liquor shops in the state. Following directions from the chief minister, officials conducted an inspection to identify outlets located near temples, schools, colleges and bus termini.
The survey found 276 shops near places of worship, 186 near educational institutions and 255 near bus stands, taking the total to 717 outlets.
