@HmmVryIntrstng @mattyglesias OTOH, a lot of wealthy people aren't high income earners. Their wealth is tied up in assets, etc. If you don't earn an income, you're not going to pay tax on it. If your goal is to tax the rich, income tax is not the way to do it

@HmmVryIntrstng @mattyglesias Probably no. High income earners pay a very high effective tax rate because of our progressive tax system (e.g., 40%). A flat tax would likely be lower than that amount.
