After reading the Black Flamingo, I was delighted to see Michael became the man he always wanted to be. I enjoyed how he grew throughout and finally became happy with himself and his sexuality. I think this book really shows the important stuff regarding LGTBQ. #XUEngl205

While reading the second part of Black Flamingo what stuck out to me was how he could go from being so scared and confused about being gay as a young boy to being so confident and open up more to it as an adult. I think this is eye opening. #XUEngl205

The part that really stuck out to me was the entry about the dads not being his dads. He seems as he has been let down in life my manly figures, he is confident in his choices. This can be relatable to many young boys or girls who didn't have a father figure. #XUEngl205

Chapters 6-7
The stop and frisk entry stuck out to me. I have never had to fear of this. I know this is a problem that I think about every time I get in the car. I think this a passage in which people who do not deal with this problem can partially understand through text.

Two lines in Chapter 3 of the citizen really stuck out to me. The line where a manager says to someone "I didn't know you were black". Next line, someone says "I didn't know black people got cancer. It was astounding to me someone could say this with such ignorance. #XUEngl205
