This week I will be in Victoria doing a number of meetings to outline People Firsts/Party solutions for today and vision for tomorrow.

I will also be talking about our merger with the Australian Citizens Party and our plans going forward including other mergers.

We do recognise the need to merge with other minor parties so that we can hold the major parties to account and I intend to keep working on that.

I will also explain why the commentary around minor parties splitting the vote is wrong. Under our preferential voting system, voters have to number every box.

It's extremely important to able to send a message to the major parties without wasting your vote.

That's what preferential voting does. By voting for minor parties first you can express your dissatisfaction with the major parties but still vote for the major party of your choice so that Labor doesn't get in.

None of the major parties have any solutions to actually fix the underlying structural imbalances of our economy. That's why voting for the Peoples Party first is so important.
