These hunting dogs were part of the royal world of one of the most powerful kings of ancient Assyria.
Carved around 645–635 BC, this gypsum relief from Nineveh shows attendants controlling mastiff-type hunting hounds on leashes. Their muscular bodies and distinctive features are captured in impressive detail, giving us a glimpse of the dogs used for hunting by the Assyrian elite more than 2600 years ago.
The relief once decorated Room E of King Ashurbanipal’s North Palace at Nineveh, in what is now Iraq.
The Assyrians filled their palaces with elaborate reliefs depicting royal hunts, ceremonies and court life. Today, this surviving panel is displayed at the British Museum in London.

@YousifOfAlqosh@zayyatheblessed@Maronidd Well your point makes no sense because no body in Italy identified as Italian before the 1861s lol
it was a modern identity hence why it’s less than 200 years old also the idea that Rome only encompassed Italy is an low iq thought for people like u to think lmao
Professor Simo Parpola of the University of Helsinki, Finland—one of the most prominent contemporary Assyriologists
explains that the names Syria and Syrians are derived from the name of the Assyrian Empire in Iraq.
By the 7th century BCE, the Assyrians had begun dropping the initial A from the name: Ashur/Assur became Sur, while Assyrit became Syrit.
He also states that the people of the Nineveh Plains in Iraq are descendants of the ancient Assyrians.

❤️👑 **Victoria Benyamin Shallita — Miss Assyria 1921** ✨❤️
More than a century ago, **Victoria Shallita** became part of Assyrian history when she was crowned **Miss Assyria in 1921**. 👑❤️
The **Shalitta family traced its roots to the Urmia region of Persia, present-day northwestern Iran**, one of the historic centers of Assyrian life.
Victoria belonged to a generation that lived through one of the most difficult periods in modern Assyrian history.
During the **Assyrian Christian Genocide and the upheavals of 1914–1923**, Assyrian communities across **Persia, Anatolia, and Mesopotamia** suffered massacres, persecution, displacement, and famine, particularly during the campaigns and collapse of the **Ottoman Empire**. 🕯️
Violence involving **Ottoman forces and allied or local armed groups** devastated many Assyrian communities and forced thousands of families to abandon their ancestral homes.
These events were among the reasons many Assyrians—including families from the **Urmia region**—fled their homeland and sought safety abroad. 🕊️
Many eventually found a new home in the **United States**, where they rebuilt their lives while preserving their faith, culture, language, and Assyrian identity. 🇺🇸❤️
The **Shalitta family was part of this early Assyrian-American story**, carrying its roots from Urmia into a new life in America.
Against this historical background, Victoria being crowned **Miss Assyria in 1921** takes on a special meaning. 👑
After years of suffering and displacement, Assyrians in the diaspora continued to proudly celebrate their **name, heritage, and identity**.
Victoria’s portrait gives us a beautiful glimpse into a generation of Assyrian women and families who survived, rebuilt, and looked toward the future. 📸✨
More than 100 years later, her story reminds us how Assyrian identity crossed borders and survived tremendous hardship.
Every preserved photograph, name, and family story helps reconnect today's Assyrians with the generations who came before us. 📜❤️

@zayyatheblessed@YousifOfAlqosh@Maronidd You are Indian it is not an insult lmao
No Indian in the world speaks on middle eastern affairs outside of Palestine or Israel due to personal needs
@zayyatheblessed@realMaalouf You mean the people who control India and the most big positions
They doxed you because u were racist against Indians how are they fanatic 🤣
@YousifOfAlqosh@zayyatheblessed@Maronidd Thats a counter argument and also does not stand since the western Roman Catholic Church is that Roman in name just as pagan if not more. So we need to change all names
Your name being given by an Italian ( Chaldean ) is something way more interesting in my opinion 👀
@zayyatheblessed@Maronidd Yeah you didn’t understand lmao neither Christian’s like you nor the Indians
So ur stuck buddy ur own Indian community doxed ur ass
