What a memorable day! Pomp, culture, and celebration reigned supreme as the communities of Turbi, Obbu, and Uran marked a historic milestone in their community land journey.
The day was filled with vibrant cultural performances, traditional songs, and dances, showcasing the rich heritage and unity of the communities.
The highlight of the event was the official presentation of Certificates of Recognition to the three communities by County Commissioner Stanley Kamende and Community Land Registrar Mr. Wanjohi. This landmark achievement officially recognizes the communities and brings them one step closer to securing their community land rights.
Today was more than a ceremony—it was a celebration of resilience, unity, and the collective commitment to safeguarding community land for current and future generations.
Congratulations to the people of Turbi, Obbu, and Uran on this well-deserved milestone! Here's to a future of strengthened community governance, sustainable land management, and shared prosperity.
Sometimes, lasting change begins not with a grand ceremony, but with people gathering around a shared vision. Today marked one such milestone as community representatives from #Uran, #Obbu, #Turbi, and #Maikona came together to take an important step in strengthening community land governance.
Under the chairmanship of His Excellency @GovMohamudAli, the Frontier Counties Development Council (@FCDCKenya ), through the @christensenfund , officially launched the induction workshop for members of the Community Land Management Committees drawn from Uran, Obbu, Turbi, and Maikona.
The induction was led by officials from the Ministry of Lands, headed by the Registrar of Community Land, Mr. Wanjohi. The workshop equips committee members with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and safeguard community land in accordance with Kenya's legal framework.
Speaking during the opening session, participants reflected on the significance of the Community Land Act, 2016, which this year marks its 10th anniversary. The Act has been instrumental in recognizing and protecting community land rights, promoting inclusive governance, and empowering communities to manage their land sustainably.
The induction workshop demonstrates the continued commitment of @FCDCKenya , the @MarsabitGov , and the @Lands_Ministry to strengthening community land institutions and ensuring that communities are well prepared to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and sustainable land management for the benefit of present and future generations.
We need a Truth and Justice Commission for this, Senior @BillowKerrow. It is this day that the folks in Tana River prayed so you change careers. FCPA Bill Okello migrated to accounting/Deloitte/MP/Senate and everything else. Powerful prayers!

As part of an ongoing working tour in the United Kingdom, FCDC’s Governance and Education Lead, Abdulahi Maalim together with Mr. Abdullahi Atosh, Finance and Administration Manager, held a productive engagement with Ruth Dorrell from @Ontum to discuss preparations for the upcoming Raspberry Pi Foundation Field Summit and share updates on the initial feedback from field implementation of the @Ontumeducation Kits across @FCDCKenya programme areas.
The discussions highlighted the growing impact of offline digital learning solutions in supporting teaching and learning in remote and underserved communities. The team also explored opportunities to build on the proof of concept, strengthen existing collaboration, and identify new partnerships that can further expand access to quality digital education and deepen the impact of the ongoing work.
The engagement reflects FCDC’s commitment to fostering innovative partnerships that accelerate digital inclusion, strengthen learning outcomes, and ensure that learners in frontier counties have access to the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital age.
