More than 18 years ago, a baby named Lamine Yamal and his mom Sheila met Lionel Messi at a UNICEF fundraising photoshoot.

Today, their achievements on the pitch inspire millions. Off the pitch, both Messi and Lamine Yamal use their voices and platforms as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors to support and advocate for children around the world.

The goal? That every child survives, thrives, and fulfils their potential.

You do not have the framework to appropriately assess the situation; proximity is not equal to capacity.

A few extra millions matters for a youth player and the fact that you can’t seem to tell why it matters is exactly why you should refrain from giving your opinion on the deal.

ITKs sometimes get deluded into thinking themselves as decision-makers and it annoys me as all it does is seed unnecessary panic & division into the fanbase whose feelings about the club are determined from the latest news & result.

Don’t launder your proximity to the club as authority to endear yourself with the fans. Don’t get personally invested in the news. Deliver it and be on your way.

Ik heb Marokkaanse buren en ik zeg het ronduit: dit zijn de beste buren die je je maar kunt wensen.
Altijd warm en gastvrij, muntthee, dadels en “eet nog, eet nog!” als je langskomt. Ze helpen waar ze kunnen, zonder gedoe of overlast. Gewoon fijne mensen om naast te wonen.

Door de jaren heen louter positieve ervaringen met Marokkaanse Nederlanders. Ze hebben een ijzersterk arbeidsethos en ondernemerschap: veel starten hun eigen zaak en werken hard. Sterke familiebanden en saamhorigheid, respect voor elkaar en trots op hun roots. En een sterke eigen mening, soms Nederlandser dan veel Nederlanders zelf. Je ziet ze succesvol meedraaien in de sport, de zorg, het onderwijs en als ondernemers die banen creëren.

Iedereen heeft het vooral over problemen. Vooral PVV’ers schreeuwen al jaren dat de integratie volledig mislukt is en focussen alleen op de negatieve kanten. Maar de dagelijkse realiteit die ik om me heen zie, is veel genuanceerder en positiever. Marokkaanse Nederlanders werken hard, bouwen families, starten bedrijven en dragen zichtbaar bij aan Nederland.

Het lijkt erop dat sommige partijen meer baat hebben bij angst en verdeeldheid dan bij het erkennen van deze dagelijkse positieve verhalen. Past dit soort herkenbare realiteit gewoon niet in hun narratief?
