People are, understandably, upset.

The company created the best software to bring one's inner imagination to the world, and hardware that worked right out of the box. Nothing complicated to learn. Just plug it in and get going.

Apple posted net income of $48 billion during the first three months of the year. Apple CEO Tim Cook touted one of biggest revenue-generating quarters in Apple's history, based on strong, unprecedented demand for its computers and phones.

Apple has always charged a premium for its computers, and customers were happy to pay it, because they felt giving the company that money was deserved for their continued investments in art, design, publishing, photography, film and creativity.

Now, it feels like Apple is just another company, trying to protect its profit margin and placate shareholders while dealing with component shortages. Today marks a turning point, one where most of Apple's customers no longer view it as a company that thinks different, but as a company that follows the rest of the corporate pack.

Apple has lost its way. And that's very sad to think about.
