Today, we have received ATC Uganda's statutory 2% Gross Annual Revenue contribution as required under the Uganda Communications Act, 2013. This reflects the continued partnership between Government, the regulator, and industry in advancing universal access, digital inclusion, and sustainable socio-economic development.
Half of the funds are remitted to the Consolidated Fund, while UCC retains the remaining half to support the @UICTug and the Uganda Communications Universal Service and Access Fund (#UCUSAF).

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Douglas Lwanga on NBS After 5 to discuss a cause close to my heart and central to our mandate at @UCC_Official: the preservation and empowerment of Uganda’s native musical heritage.
Ugandan music is not just entertainment; it is our living history. Long before digital streaming, our stories, moral lessons, and historical records were preserved through the strings of the single-box guitar and the poetic storytelling of Kadongo Kamu.
Pioneers such as Mzee Dan Mugula, Hadijah Namale, Mzee Lord Fred Ssebatta and many legendary masters laid the foundations of the modern music industry we celebrate today. Yet for decades, much of this national treasure has remained trapped on ageing analogue tapes, at risk of being lost forever.
Through the UCC Ataakulaba Heritage Music Initiative, we are changing that trajectory. We are digitising classic catalogue recordings in high definition to ensure their timeless preservation, while also bringing vintage masterpieces to digital streaming platforms such as UgaTunez, YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok so our veteran artists and their estates receive ongoing royalties.
Most importantly, this effort bridges the gap between our musical forefathers and today’s vibrant young creators.
We invite all music lovers, industry pioneers, and cultural advocates to join us in celebrating and honouring these living legends on Friday, 31st July 2026, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens.
An initiative of this magnitude relies on strong multi-sector collaboration, and I express my sincere gratitude to our lead corporate sponsors: Airtel Uganda for driving digital connectivity, Rose Foam for investing in our community's heritage, and Movit Products Ltd for championing local talent and Ugandan identity.
Together, let us protect our roots, empower our artists, and build a sustainable creative economy.
