Split focus today — product + distribution.

Product side: moved budget status into its own Budget tab, unified the category system, fixed a bug where income showed $0 prematurely, and fixed the wizard resetting before confirmation.

Distribution side: more dofollow backlink badges going live. The boring SEO grind continues.

Three weeks in. The pattern is becoming clearer — mornings for features, afternoons for distribution. You can't just build. You can't just market. It's both, every day, forever.

No features today. All SEO and distribution work.

Spent the day getting UntilFire listed on startup directories — Stack Directory, Startup Fame, Tool Dynamo, Startup Fast. Each one is a backlink.

Each backlink is a small vote of confidence in Google's eyes.

Not glamorous. Not something you can screenshot for engagement.

But this is the work that compounds over months. You ship the product, then you make sure people can actually find it.

Building > marketing > distribution. You need all three.

DAY 18/90
One big commit today. Restructured the entire dashboard navigation and polished the cashflow UX.

Touched every tab — Categories, CSV Import, Reports, Transactions, and the main dashboard page. The kind of refactor where nothing looks dramatically different to the user but everything feels tighter.

Some days you add features. Some days you make the features you already have actually make sense together.

Also GPT5.5 and remotion is amazing.

Built an Expat FIRE globe today. 28 commits.

You spin a 3D globe, hover over a city, and it shows how much sooner (or later) you'd hit FIRE there vs where you are now.

Click a dot and it zooms in with a full comparison.

Auto-spin, theme-aware (dark globe in dark mode, white in light), full-bleed canvas, collapsible stats overlay. Pulls your actual Plaid balances into the calculation.

Also redesigned the Goals page into a personal savings goal tracker.

And fixed CSV import duplicate detection.

The globe is the kind of feature that makes people stop scrolling.

"Wait — I could retire 7 years earlier in Lisbon?" That's the hook.

Spent the day vibe coding a demo video with Claude Code + Fable 5. Now on v9.

Every version I think "this is it" and then watch it back and cringe at something. Timing's off. Transition feels weird. Music doesn't hit right. Redo.

Consistency is hard. Not the building part — the showing up and making something you're proud to put out there part.

Some days you ship 23 commits. Some days you re-render the same 30 seconds nine times.

Both count.

Built a FIRE Type personality quiz today. You answer a few questions and get a trading card with your FIRE archetype — like a collectible reveal.

What shipped:
•Designed the FIRE Type result page with a dark layout and trading card aesthetic
•Added a light reveal animation on the card
•Custom avatar generation per personality type
•White poster-style share card so it looks clean when you screenshot it
•Simplified the share content for X/LinkedIn

6 commits. All on one feature.

The idea: make FIRE feel personal. Not just “save 50% of your income” — more like “you’re a Stealth Saver” or “you’re a Coast Rider.” Identity > math.

30 commits. Insane day. Thanks to the claude code reset.

Big ones: progress chart now shows contributions vs market gains split using real Plaid data.

Added S&P 500 benchmark toggle. Defaulted to 10% nominal return with a 7% real toggle.

FIRE milestones on dashboard.

Email now sends your actual FIRE results when you sign up. Expanded history to full 36 months.

SEO got a full pass — FAQ schemas, server-rendered content on homepage, deepened city pages, enriched article bodies, Organization schema.

Fixed a dozen bugs: savings rate calculation, chart V-dip, refund handling, dark mode, AI classification.

The chart change is the one that matters. Seeing "this is what you saved" vs "this is what the market gave you" — that's the insight most dashboards hide from you.

Now you see how your contribution and investment really makes a difference.
