@DavidDack Crushed myself at the Gettysburg marathon. Probably not in my top 5 “fastest”. However, it was a beautiful (hilly) race thru hollowed grounds. Sometimes the clock doesn’t tell the story.
@DavidDack Definitely depends on the distance. For marathon training, it shows up in race pace and “strength” intervals. For half marathon I’d say it shows up more in long runs where I’m practicing a “fast finish” where the last couple of miles get close to race pace.
@DavidDack Because I’m a nerd, I usually mimic a familiar run. For example, I have a 6 mile loop I know very well. High, short incline at mile 1.5. Long, 3%, incline from 2.5 to 3 and so on. Just no downhills.
@DavidDack At this point…mostly training. I will shoot for 1 “goal” race per year where I will push myself a bit but, at this point, I’m just looking to stay consistent - also why I’ve added more cycling and reduced run volume (with the exception of the “goal” race).
@DavidDack Yeah, I think because it’s longer than a 5k, you lose people there (too long) yet because it’s not as revered as 13.1 or 26.2, it gets brushed off by others (too short). I agree with you…hits that sweet spot.
