🗞️ BREAKING | Trump officials are planning a 5,000-person military base in southern Gaza as part of a new International Stabilization Force, according to Board of Peace contracting records reviewed by the Guardian.

The planned 350-acre compound, roughly 1,400 by 1,100 meters, would include 26 armored watchtowers, bunkers with ventilation systems, a small-arms range and a barbed-wire perimeter. The documents call for geophysical surveys to detect tunnels and include a “Human Remains Protocol” instructing contractors to halt work if bodies are uncovered.

The site lies in Israeli-controlled southern Gaza, and is envisioned as the headquarters for a multinational force under the UN-authorized Board of Peace, chaired by Trump and led in part by Jared Kushner.

We need to be honest about the fact that Biden forgot what the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is/does (see 21:45 of this interview…) He first refers to him as “my commander in chief,” and then as his “Chief of Staff of the military.”

@NuclearPolicy The point is that a nuclear first strike based on “counterforce targeting” definitely wouldn’t avoid cities or massive civilian casualties. (Nor would it be likely to succeed in preventing nuclear retaliation.)
