SHOCKING: A growing number of middle school athletes — mostly boys — are intentionally repeating 8th grade to delay their start in high school, giving themselves another full year to get bigger, stronger, and faster, which in turn dramatically boosts their chances at elite high school spots, college scholarships, and massive NIL deals potentially worth millions.
William La Jeunesse: “Of 8M high school students in sports only 7% will play in college.”
“On the other hand, the [likely] number one pick in this year’s NBA draft, [AJ Dybantsa], did 8th grade twice.”

Easy consensus can be one of the most misleading reactions a team can have.
If the decision really matters, but there's no wrestling in the room, that should concern you as a leader.
Tough calls take real effort from a team. When they don't go there, it's almost always a lack of healthy conflict. And a lack of healthy conflict is almost always rooted in a lack of trust.
Next time you hear crickets on a high-stakes call and just see heads nodding, don't move on.
Lean in and go deeper.
There are a lot of ways to build a team.
But there are really only five ways to destroy one.
A lack of trust. A fear of conflict. No real commitment. The unwillingness to hold each other accountable. And an inattention to collective results.
Get those five right, and almost everything else takes care of itself.
If your team is feeling stuck, this is where you should start.
