Roger Federer played 1,526 matches in his tennis career
He won 80% of those matches
But Federer only won 54% of the points in those matches
Here's why Federer is just like the stock market:
The highest honor you can receive from the @PurdueAlumni Association.
Congrats Coach Painter on being named a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Meritorious Services Performed.
Extremely well-deserved.
Matt Eberflus on how he looks back at allowing Terry McLaurin, who was unguarded, to get 13 yards on the 2nd to last play and out of bounds with 2 seconds remaining.
"Because you're defending touchdown, right? You're defending touchdown there. And them throwing the ball for 13 yards or 10 yards, whatever that is, doesn't really matter. It's always going to come down to that last play."
I would argue that it does matter, because it set up an attainable Hail Mary attempt. If McLaurin is tackled in bounds, the game is over. There is no chance at a final play. If he's defended, maybe he doesn't get a first down and the Commanders to midfield, thus further preventing the Hail Mary execution. If the pass rush isn't in this weird prevent, rush 3 mindset (almost exact same design as the final play), maybe Jayden Daniels gets stifled up front and doesn't have an attempt to throw a ball 65ish yards down field.
Covering Purdue was my dream job while I was at the Exponent there. It never happened, but it's been fun this week finding story angles, whether it's coaches' experiences with coach Matt Painter or proud alums like Beth (Bobillo) Olinger, who is in Phoenix for the Final Four.
In a polarized world, a key to happiness is being hard to offend.
Feeling slighted takes a toll. It's possible to object without getting upset.
Rudeness says more about the perpetrator than the target. If they haven't earned your respect, they don't deserve your attention.
We haven’t lost the capacity to pay attention.
179 studies, 32 countries: on tests of concentration from 1990 to 2021, children didn’t decline—and adults actually improved.
When we want to focus, we can. Our distraction issues are a matter of motivation, not ability.
JT commented on the state of the fans at the Waste Management.
He said “I get they’re having fun, but some of them need to go back to their shanties. You see that guy making a snow angel in the bunker? You want snowmans, go watch LIV Golf. I’m sure Phil tripled a hole today.”
Shohei Ohtani deferring $680 million of his $700 million record-breaking contract will not only help the Dodgers sign additional players — but if Ohtani moves out of California from 2034 onward, he could save hundreds of millions on taxes, too. Genius.
A 2024 prediction:
I'm bullish on consumer sentiment
Falling gas prices, falling mortgage rates, the inflation rate is stabilizing, we're seeing real wage growth, the Fed is probably gonna cut rates
Comeback time

If Justin Fields pass chart ever looked like this we would be calling for Luke Getsy’s job.
Instead its, “why can’t Getsy do this for Fields?”🤦♂️
It’s very possible there’s some things Tyson Bagent might be better at than JF1.
But some fans are acting like Getsy was scheming WR’s open 30-yards down the field.
It’s all quick passes in the flat and at the LOS, a gameplan we have seen Fields run thousands of times.
From last 2 games I have seen players on foul line lock arms to block Edey out. Not only is that an infraction but it is very dangerous. I also saw this hook & hold against Edey & no call. No way can such blatant violations be missed by not 1, not 2 but 3 officials.
