@markkaplan20 According to Grok: Large-scale clinical trials and meta-analyses of high-dose oral vitamin C supplementation (typically 500–2,000 mg/day) have generally shown no consistent reduction in major cardiovascular events or atherosclerosis progression

@gemoscatelli So unless Blood Glucose AND Blood Pressure is kept in check with optimal reverse cholesterol transport you will eventually have a problem with raised LDL. Aim for favourable HDL:TG and HpoB:ApoA1 and low HS-CRP and HBA1C. Then saturated fats shouldn't do any harm
@gemoscatelli Speaking as someone who follows a keto/carnivore diet for many years. And who have researched the topic excessively, it's a fact that raised LDL due to saturated fat intake in the presence of metabolicaly compromised individuals will lead to artheroscorosis
@afshineemrani In terms of metabolic health markers, optimise your ApoB:ApoA1 and HDL:Triglyceride ratios as this can indicate optimal reverse cholesterol transport. Also watch your systemic inflammation HS-CRP and average blood glucose control via HBA1C. Also keep record of your blood pressure
@afshineemrani As someone who has obsessively spent literally hundreds of hours immersing myself in in depth research on this exact topic following my dad's heart attack at age 68 just over a year ago. I can share a few things that might be helpful to others. See thread below
@afshineemrani There's also evidence that daily intake of pomegranate juice (I recommend pomegranate cider vinegar in your water) can eventually help reverse plaque build-up. Similar evidence exist for high dose Nattokinase (8000FU) but bleeding risks should be weighed. Hope this helps someone!
@afshineemrani Metabolic health recovery must be prioritised. Cardio vascular exercise (150 min/week at 60–70% max heart rate) and a low carbohydrate diet. Avoid sugar, refined carbs and processed foods! Supplement with Spirulina (3g/day), and Omega 3's (2g/day), Vitamin D (40,000iu/week)
@afshineemrani Statins, as long as ALL the side effects are communicated should be a personal choice as options such as mentioned in the article are available. Personally I recommend Ezetimibe as it offers various benefits alongside the LDL reduction. Strict glucose and blood pressure control
@afshineemrani High LDL and specifically ApoB burden over decades in the presence of a Metabolicaly compromised individual will cause plaque build-up and eventual artheroscorosis. Decades of exposure to high blood pressure and/or insulin resistance with high LDL will likely end in MI
@afshineemrani Statins do indeed have the side effects described, they are very real and the onset is fast! CoQ10 and Vitamin D supplementation only partially offsets them but does help. Constipation is also a real issue and can be helped through daily intake of Psylium husk and Magnesium Oxide
@AmmousMD@RobertodeFili11 Preliminary data seems to support Ezetemibe to have positive impact on neuro protection. The verdict on cholesterol is definitely not settled
