My wish for the next election is that poll trackers look like the one on the right 👉 not the left
This was yet another election where the polling showed it could easily go either way, but most of the charts just showed two nice clean lines, one leading and one trailing. Bad!
Malaria fights hard. We fight harder. 👊 Together, we can save 13.2 million lives in the next 15 years with innovations like vaccines, gene-drive tech, & new mosquito nets. 💉🕸️ Let's do this. #ZeroMalaria
In #Gaza, @WFP operations continue despite immense challenges, growing security risks & repeated evacuation risks.
Each new evacuation disrupts vital services and delays critical support. The situation is dire—we urgently need a ceasefire to protect aid workers and civilians.
One of the areas I hope the new government can address is the difficulty many academics and researchers from low and middle income countries experience when trying to obtain a visa to visit the UK for scientific meetings. Applications are ofen delayed and sometimes even refused.
Are you a researcher studying the impact of #ClimateChange on #health? If so, keep an eye out in early July for our funding call opening!
We'll be inviting pairs of mid-career researchers from sub-Saharan Africa & the UK to apply for up to £300k on a joint project. Stay tuned!
Not long left to register to vote in the UK General Election, link here: https://t.co/QYp9Jgobur Unusual to have a July election, so could catch out (e.g.) undergrad students who aren't registered to vote in their home constituency
This year's reading highlights included 'Cutting for Stone' by Abraham Verghese, 'The Candy House' by Jennifer Egan, 'Corregidora' by Gayle Jones & 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' by Anthony Doerr.
It's that time of year again! Many thanks to @haringeylibrary for tracking down several of these.

My notes of last night briefing on the situation in #gazastrip. @PalestineRCS appears to be the only actor that remains active.
Aid is NOT reaching beyond Deir Al Balah according to PRCS. This is a highly concerning humanitarian leaving hundreds of thousands of people behind.
Deeply worrisome:
14 out of 36 hospitals and 2 specialty centers in #Gaza are non-functional due to lack of fuel as well as damage, attacks and insecurity.
The hospitals that remain open are overloaded with 40% more patients than they are designed to manage.
@WHO calls for urgent, sustained access at scale for humanitarian aid.
We continue to call for the active protection of civilians and health care and for a humanitarian ceasefire.
We are hiring a postdoc to develop new methods for modeling and understanding viral load and serologic data based in the @PSIOxford. This is a 2.5 year post. Application deadline is 4th December. Please get in touch if you'd like to chat before applying!

We identified mechanistic correlates of #SARSCoV2 viral load in the upper respiratory tract https://t.co/fUVMQQa2iD
This was a great collaborative effort between many researchers
