The struggles of photographing petrels:
1. When they come too close for my lens
2. When 2 petrels are flying towards you from opposite directions and you don't know which one to focus on!
3. When they go behind the waves!
Despite all these problems I managed to get a few pics
Great evening at Ham Wall RSPB with @MattSpracklen yesterday evening and our favourite warden A. (off duty) and finally saw the Blue-winged Teal fly in around 9pm (a Lifer!) Also saw a beautiful sunset and moon rise, hunting barn owls, booming bitterns and more! @rspb
Red footed Falcon showing well early morning on Holt Heath before flying off high to the south hawking over heathland. Brilliant birding with nice additional cast of breeding heathland species seen including Dartford W, Cuckoo, Woodlark, Tree Pipits & Crossbill. @DorsetBirdClub
A little distant for photos but over the moon to see at long last our first UK Montyβs. Some good prolonged views across Tealham Moor this morning, shared with a good crowd of Somerset birders. @somersetbirds@bto_somerset1
Montagu's Harrier - female, still on Tealham Moor this late-morning (19-May). A distant video (my 7th in Somerset), also a still photo from Spain in 2019.
