I've just experienced something I almost can't believe. I'm on @Replit's Pro 500 plan ($440/mo) and I go to merely move down a couple levels in spend, because I don't need as many credits in the near term (because I built up a nice bank of credits). So, I go in their app and there is no way to level down your spend (super easy to increase it). I email their help desk and they tell me I have to cancel my subscription in order to change it. I said no, you don't understand, I'm not leaving, I just want to reduce the extra credit packs and lower my plan. They confirm they won't do that. They said I have to cancel because their software won't allow it. Can you believe this? A software company that lets you build anything can't (more like doesn't want to) build a feature that allows you to level down, just as easy as they allow you to level up, your spend?
Oh, and by the way, if you cancel your subscription, then you lose (ie they keep the money) all the credits you paid for, they take the project offline and you no longer access to the agent. You're kicked to the curb. Unclear if they delete your project entirely (make sure you back it up on GH). Customer service basically said sorry, but nothing we're going to do about it.
Transitioning a single project from @boltdotnew in order to get the multiple agents of Replit, I don't think I was ever as psyched starting a new vibe coding app to be so quickly disappointed and let down. I want to believe the ceo @amasad doesn't know about this. Because it makes no sense why a company would have such a horrendous process for a customer who merely wants to right-size their spend (and most likely just temporarily).
I feel like I've been conned and taken advantage of. Their customer service can't even manually make this change for you, since they've decided not to allow the tool to do it. https://t.co/VV8OnzRGnA let me easily down-level my spend as easy as I could up-level it. This experience with Replit is like a kick to the groin.
This was a great learning lesson for me on how not to treat customers if you have a consumption-based business. And I'll be sure with the software I build to not make the mistake they're making.
Replit you get an F- for customer support and loyalty. This trickery might make you a few extra bucks, but at the expense of customers who will trust you'll do the right thing. You live and you learn.
@cursor_ai@Lovable - Do you allow your customers to down-level their spend as easy as up-level, or do you follow the Replit playbook of spend lock-in and kicked to the curb if you ever want to change?
@SenWarren Yes, so you and the rest of the blood-sucking parasites in congress can spend us into national bankruptcy even faster. Brilliant idea.
Does it hurt to be that stupid, or did you just realize the only way you could become a millionaire was to spread envy?
@chamath But it still doesn’t solve the real problem.
Without that, it’s just another sound bite meant to placate people while allowing the world’s largest thief to continue to plunder us all (even the bottom 50%, albeit indirectly).
