The fact that I genuinely could not tell whether or not this statement was satire --
-- tells you everything you need to know about the state of the world right now.
@AffordAnything Classic Leninist strategy. At the 1903 split, Lenin framed party unity as binary: total discipline or “objective betrayal.” No room for “socialist, but with doubts.” Same logic later banned rival socialists and even internal factions.

Morgan Stanley: AWS is suffering from compute bottlenecks, and AWS is now entering an “AI growth acceleration cycle.”
Morgan Stanley’s analyst summarized four key growth drivers.
① Rapid expansion of capacity:
By year-end, it will secure an additional 1 GW of compute capacity, and the number of Trainium2 chips will double.
② Structural expansion cycle:
Over the next 24 months, AWS plans to add 10 GW of data center capacity.
③ Surge in AI orders:
In October alone, new order volume exceeded the entire third quarter, and the new business signed in a single month amounts to about $18 billion.
④ Acceleration of innovation:
There is a high likelihood that Trainium3 will be unveiled by year-end, and the Bedrock software platform is also continuing to expand.
The report notes that AWS remains “capacity constrained” at present, and that “the supply shortage itself is becoming the core of the growth logic.”
According to Morgan Stanley’s analysis, AWS appears to have signed approximately $18 billion in new business in October alone.
This exceeds the total new business contract volume for the entire third quarter.
“If there were no compute bottlenecks, AWS’s growth would have been faster.”
“These expansion plans are laying the groundwork for another acceleration in 2026–2027,” the analyst stated.
Morgan Stanley projects AWS’s revenue growth over the next two years at 23% and 25%, respectively, and expects the explosion in AI demand to generate an additional $6 billion in revenue in 2026.
This is expected to lift the overall growth rate by about 4 percentage points.
Additionally, Morgan Stanley raised Amazon’s 2026/2027 capital expenditure (Capex) outlook by 13%/19%, projecting total capex of $169 billion/$202 billion. This implies Amazon would invest $140 billion/$170 billion in technology and infrastructure, respectively—figures higher than those of other big tech companies such as Microsoft, Meta, and Google.

2001 ✅
2008 ✅
2020 ✅
Marcel Boiteux, one of the greatest men of the 20th Century, died two years ago today at the age of 101.
He predicted the need for and then executed the construction of France's astonishing nuclear power program. 50+ reactors built in a 20 year period, about twenty times the per-capita rate that China is building today.
It's shocking to me that there is still no biography of him in either French or English. His own memoirs, an astonishing text which he apparently intended to be only the first of two volumes, cuts off before describing the details of his building of the nuclear fleet.
As a college student in occupied France, he slipped away from a forced labor assignment in a coal mine and escaped to Spain while heroically escorting downed Allied airmen.
He joined up with Free French forces in Africa, was commissioned as an officer, and fought through Italy until injured.
Finishing his economics studies, he joined @EDFofficiel and then invented the theory behind efficient and fair electricity pricing.
For his cool strength in the face of massive labor unrest, he was promoted to lead EDF, where he prepared a nuclear program that blasted into overdrive after the 1973 oil embargo started.
French terrorists trying to stop his nuclear program blew up his house one night in 1977 with him, his wife, and his daughter all inside, and he still went to work that morning to keep building reactors. He was attacked in the left-wing press for the cost of his hotel room as he arranged a new home.
There should be statues all over France for the man who gave his country a fighting chance at not just sovereignty but also greatness in an energy-constrained 21st century.
His fleet of reactors is now being intentionally and unintentionally throttled; France's reactors should be producing way more power and at a much lower cost than they are today.
I finally got to visit one of his incredible plants earlier this year with @nukebarbarian, Cattenom, which can power millions of people from its four massive units.
His example inspires me while helping build @TheNuclearCo alongside @JonathanWebbKY, @TheNuclearJoe, and a fast-growing team.
France: study and honor your hero Marcel Boiteux and you too may rediscover your way.
