When 20% of property owners kill the property rights of 100% of a neighborhood, it’s not only undemocrartic, it becomes one of Texas’s most PRESSING affordability issues #txlege 🏠🏘️

@austintexasgov Hi, when will y'all have it back up on the archive? The archived feed cut out about 30 minutes ago and now I get network errors on two different computers. Thanks for your work.
And ... It's up! The Book-Loving Texan's Guide to the May 2024 School Board elections is live. I've started with 9 districts, including North East ISD, Eanes, Keller, Katy, GCISD. Please use this to organize & mobilize--and check back! More will be added! https://t.co/sOSvXvSh9D
“Because of our training and experience, we know that chaplains are not a replacement for school counselors or safety measures in our public schools.” - more than 170 professional chaplains in Texas. Fortunately, school boards & #txed are listening, unlike the #txlege
"a memo to candidates: Since your opponents are going to lie about you anyway, your best and only defense is to actually represent your district" - @HKronberg#txlege
"Should Trump win the election, Texas could find itself in a tornado of political ambition; also a memo to candidates: Since your opponents are going to lie about you anyway, your best and only defense is to actually represent your district"
In the 2010 election, I won on election night by 16 votes out of >50K votes cast. After multiple recounts and an election challenge with a House-appointed tribunal, I ultimately won by only 4 votes. I'm a walking civics lesson. Every. Vote. Counts. #txlege
Today a bipartisan majority in the Texas House stood firm in the House’s longtime, consistent support of public schools and made one thing clear: It is time to focus on strengthening the public schools educating more than 5 million Texas students. #txlege#txed
Rep @DrewDarbyTX and @RaneyForTexas are reminding the House of the 2011 budget cuts to #txed that have never been fully restored in addition to inflation. #txlege
Thanks Houston Faith Community for supporting public schools and saying NO VOUCHERS!
These letters and thousands more are being delivered to #txlege offices with a clear message: Keep Public Dollars in Public Schools!

"There's a reason this is so hard. It's clear that, after decades of bipartisan rejection, Texans don't want this voucher scheme," writes the editorial board. https://t.co/iqd7bUKZFq
Good morning #txed and #txlege friends. Thought you might be interested in this article about Illinois rolling back their voucher program. Turns out, not all students are given a choice because they are discriminated against….which is by design. https://t.co/6LJi46ze8E
3. HB 1 does not cover the full cost. Wealthier parents pocket a check from the new entitlement program, but children with parents that can’t cover the difference get left behind in a school left with less money to provide. That’s not equity. #txlege#txed
To be clear: “school choice” means the school chooses your child. There is no requirement that the private school accept your child in HB 1. #txlege#txed
Parents know and love their children better than anyone else.
School choice gives them the freedom to make the best decision for their child’s education.
Texas must put mom and dad back in charge.
