Anthropic's CEO admitted AI job displacement may be "intrinsic." Here's my question: Would you trade the old economy — 40-year careers, mandatory retirement, dying broke — for one where AI cures aging, colonizes Mars, and generates post-scarcity abundance while you do what you actually love? That's not a threat. That's the deal.
Good point. However, look at what has happened in just 5 years since Covid. The number of people working from home in the U.S. is incredible and will only increase. They have been dragged into a new world already! In 100 years life will change dramatically I think. IF we can survive politicians.
@tmore3@rodbar45@iret119@robzombee14@RealJamesWoods An argument against this is the vast number of people who don't know what to do. However, I wonder if it is just the case that they are too busy working to have a chance to find out. It could be that this will unleash a huge treasury of creativity.
Trump's AI EO has no heavy regulation, no permission frameworks, just a voluntary preview of models 30 days before release. Anthropic immediately filed a draft S-1 for an IPO, all while ChatGPT hit 1 billion users faster than any other product in human history. The US is telling the world: we compete, we don't constrain.
-- Claude: 56M monthly users, 640% YoY. ChatGPT: 1B monthly users, 62% YoY.
-- Microsoft dropped 7 in-house AI models at Build 2026, zero distillation from OpenAI.
-- 1.8M teachers proposed banning screens through 2nd grade and taxing AI companies.
-- Bernie Sanders proposed 50% public ownership of all frontier labs.
-- 130 mathematicians signed the Leiden Declaration against AI weeks after AI solved an 80-year-old Erdős conjecture.
Tech companies will spend $650B on AI data centers in 2026 alone. For context: the entire Marshall Plan — which rebuilt postwar Europe across multiple nations and years — cost roughly $160B in today's dollars. We are funding civilization-level infrastructure at 4x Marshall Plan scale. Not over decades. Per year.
@iret119@robzombee14@rodbar45 This what I wish will happen even though I Will probably miss it due to my age and politicians fighting to keep power. @nealasher
ELON MUSK:
“We’re going to have universal high income.
We’ll basically just issue money to people."
"AI and robots are going to make so much stuff and provide so many services that they’ll run out of things to do for humans."
"Money will stop being relevant at some point in the future."
"AI won’t use human currency. It will care about power and mass: wattage and tonnage.”
ME:
“So just as you’re becoming a multi-trillionaire, money starts to have less value?”
ELON:
“Yeah, pretty much.”
SpaceX starts trading on Nasdaq tomorrow. Amazon 1997. Tesla 2010. SpaceX 2026. Looking back from 2040 — which IPO do you wish you'd held? I'll answer for myself: all of them. But SpaceX might be the only one that keeps humanity alive.
He is just WORTH that, he doesn’t have a trillion dollars! This is to all the idiots saying he has too much “money” and should give it away to our government who will waste it.
Lawyers have started collecting gabapentin dementia stories
I’m not promoting any law firm. Instead, I want you to Google: “ gabapentin dementia lawsuit”
