Significant progress has been made since 1995:
✔️Fewer girls out of school
✔️Maternal mortality dropped by a third
✔️Women’s representation in parliaments more than doubled

@elonmusk Sorry but can you clarify how much you're taking from the American people while engaging in many conflicts of interest? All while claiming to have the American interest in mind? 🥸
1) Covid is chronic and reinfects
2) It decreases IQ on initial infection and reinfection
3) Kids keep catching it
4) Airline staff keep catching it
Noone sees a problem here? Am I talking to a wall?
When asked to share my experiences with medical professionals I often share this story.
In 2005 I went into hospital because of osteomyelitis (bone infection), which required a PICC line in my heart and antibiotics every 4 hrs for 6 - 8 weeks.
Not long into my treatment the doctor in charge asked me why I continued to use heroin when I was getting medication (methadone) to manage pain and withdrawal. I told him yes, the medications helped with pain, but I needed heroin to take away the emotional void I felt. The doctor discharged me.😮😱
When I returned to the supervised consumption site staff were outraged. They brought me back to the hospital, where staff said I "self-discharged,”which was absolutely false.
Soon after, the Community Transitional Care Team (CTCT) was created — an acute care clinic in the community — where I was allowed to finish my treatment while still using drugs. I am so grateful for that place, because I wouldn't have a leg or be alive without it.
Here’s my point. I was in the hospital because of a life-threatening infection, not for recovery treatment.
You don't have to be drug-free or sober in Canada to get health care. In fact, Canadian laws and regulations protect access to health care for EVERYONE. Sorry haters … that means we must find ways to accommodate people who use drugs AND keep hospital staff safe at the same time.
Unfortunately, with the illicit drug supply getting more poisonous and contaminated every day, leading to more dangerous addictions, injuries and overdoses, it also means more people in hospital and more pressure on health-care workers than ever before.
THIS IS A DECLARED PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY … I think some of you are only just beginning to notice.
I’ve said it before: it’s not just happening on inner city streets anymore. It’s beginning to impact every aspect of our lives and it’s only getting worse 😢

Many of the responses to this BODY of research on vaccine safety demonstrate the power of misinformation to:
- generate destabilizing distrust
- create echo chambers filled with confirmation bias
- exploit ideology, community, & in-group signalling
Also, incredible the degree to which conspiracies are "self-sealing." Evidence that contradicts a belief system explained away with more conspiracies & ad hominem attacks. They just keep digging.
Alas, demos challenges we face in countering harmful (deadly) health misinformation. Thankfully, international #scicomm community amazing. Rearch pointing the way forward...🙏 #GoTeam!

“I was on my usual running path when I heard an older man yelling loudly enough for me to hear through my headphones. "Sexy lady, hey hey hey sexy lady!" He kept screaming it and I decided to just ignore him and keep running.
This ignoring seemed to piss him off so he lashed out and said "eff you, dumb B****!" Now let's keep in mind he was well-dressed and appeared to be on his lunch break from an office job.
That was my trigger point. The B word. I ripped off my headphones prepared to stand up for myself when this little boy who was walking alongside his mother and little sister in a stroller looked at the guy and said, "Hey. That is not nice to say to her and she didn't like you yelling at her. You shouldn't do that because she is a nice girl and I don't let anyone say mean things to people. She's a girl like my sister and I will protect her."
The man was immediately embarrassed and started gathering his lunch to leave. I asked the mother if I could hug the little boy (his name is James) and I told him how grateful I was for him. He just shrugged and said "Well I just wanted to make sure your heart was okay."
According to his mother, this is a typical day in the life of James. Thank you so much to the mothers and fathers who are raising the next generation to be brave and courageous, and to be little earth angels for all. I am so touched.”

One problem we have in Ontario is that we have political leaders who have absolutely no experience in the various ministries they hold. How can we have a minister of health without any background in healthcare & an education minister who was never a teacher? This is an error!
@ChoicesAddUp Remote monitoring following acute care hospital admissions would decrease the incidence of repeat admissions. However it isn't utilized to the full potential. With advances in technology (heart rate monitors via a wrist watch), we could see this more.
@ChoicesAddUp Page 25 of this article, https://t.co/GJBJ3wGlcN, discusses how Sweden, England, and the Netherlands use nurse-led clinics to manage chronic diseases. Surly that is more affordable that physician-led clinic.
@kristenhovet@ChoicesAddUp I agree. I also thing more coordination for medical software with those that use it needs to occur. Someone who doesn't work as a bedside clinician shouldn't be making software for those that do. Yet it continues to happen.
