@MsCarolineWard @homeschoolingm7 @AQA The exam centres are made to sign a legal document, I guess normal exams lite is the only way most feel comfortable signing it
@homeschoolingm7 @PearsonEdexcel @Iamtootall12 At the end of the day if this goes pear shaped for some students, when they contact the exam board/ofqual they will say the decision was made by your exam centre and the exam centre will say we followed JCQ guidance, pass the parcel. Rant Over
@homeschoolingm7 @PearsonEdexcel @Iamtootall12 It should be no harder to easier to achieve the same grade this year - paraphrased from JCQ, yeah well if I get 51/91 in my AQA bio paper 1 (and similar across all assessments) will I get an A or will the grade descriptors prevent me from getting an A?
@homeschoolingm7 @PearsonEdexcel @Iamtootall12 It makes little sense what if a student spends more time answering a certain question and then they run out of time to answer another, will they be penalised then grading via the grade descriptors, how would the assessor be able to tell anyways?
@homeschoolingm7 @PearsonEdexcel @Iamtootall12 READ the text it says more than one questions lol, imagine if you are doing full papers as mocks, YOUR definitely going to get more than one question 'significantly wrong' if you attempt to answer all of the questions.
@homeschoolingm7 @PearsonEdexcel @Iamtootall12 If I can lose 40 marks in AQA biology paper 1 but still get an A in a normal year, but I have answered a few questions wrong/left out it doesn't seen like you can get an A from the grade descriptors. That's probably how they will reduce grade inflation. Very clever if true!
@homeschoolingm7 @PearsonEdexcel @Iamtootall12 Yes but technically I could get an A in a past paper according to previous grade boundaries but NOT according to the grade descriptors. 51/91 = A but if you read the grade descriptors you would need to make very little mistakes to get an A
@PearsonEdexcel @homeschoolingm7 If examboards can moderate manually ONLY using the evidence submitted by the exam centre will resit students have their previous grades taken into account. This wouldn't happen in a normal year so if yes are you saying that you don't have faith in the system that has been created
@ClaireRoseCam @privatecandida4@PrivCanditatSOS@ofqual@educationgovuk They have not given dates of assessment/timetable, how many assessments, length, format. Grade boundaries although I think they have been told to use grade descriptors. (A question to you, normally in biology paper 1 you need 51/91 for an A grade will the descriptors allow this?)
@ClaireRoseCam @privatecandida4@PrivCanditatSOS@ofqual@educationgovuk ... but general for example topic 1/8 in biology is called biological molecules. this way all private candidates would know that this topic will come up and may be they say that you don't need to know topic 8
