A blockage long enough to stretch between two airport terminals was discovered in the sewers outside Heathrow Airport.
This 500-metre mass of fats, oils and grease (FOG) clogged half the sewer and took our engineers over two weeks to break down. FOG blockages make up 28% of all sewer issues and cause more than 60% of sewer floods across our network.
What goes down the drain doesn’t disappear. Please bin it, don’t block it - and remember to only flush the three Ps: pee, poo, (toilet) paper.
