🚨 ‼️ Spoiler Alert🚨‼️ :
It’s not a mosque.
It’s a community centre. And it houses a foodbank.
More Reform lies.
They will spout any old bollocks to stir hate.
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
Blair’s essay is a substantial intervention on what's wrong with Britain & with Labour, with a detailed alternative agenda. Dismissing it is silly. But engaging with it reveals that it's both forward-looking & stuck in the past, with an agenda that is radical but not 'centrist'🧵
@RobertJenrick Maybe you should read the report I commissioned - you know, the one published in January 2020 in which you showed zero interest when you were Communities Secretary?
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has set out his views on Labour's path forward and the policy challenges facing the country.
Speaking to Channel 4 News' Andrew Misra, Burnham said he wanted Labour to become “a party that they can believe in again, a party solidly on the side of working class people.”
A bit of Andy Burnham lore that shows exactly why I rate him so highly.
I was chatting to a homeless guy who’d fallen on hard times one late evening recently. As a long shot, I messaged Burnham. Within minutes he replied and helped.
He’s genuinely one of life’s good guys.
@breadandposes No, as I’m sure he will do. He’s not exactly made secret his views on things like electoral reform and other issues which I’m sure the Greens can align on. Whether it’s possible to get it through this parliament is another matter.
Which Zack Polanski and Green Party will show up? The one who was a Lib Dem only a few years ago? The party who have since joined up with the Tories in local government? A tricky one.
Hmmm yes tricky one. Is it the bloke who was in government nearly 20 years ago or the bloke we’ve seen far more of since, is clearly a potential ally to progressives, and has clearly evolved in his politics?
A Green Source responds to this from Caroline Lucas: "The problem is that we just don't know which Andy Burnham is going to turn up. Will it be the Blairite politician who went along with years of privatisation and welfare cuts, or the one who has publicly supported proportional representation and expressed support to make changes to the failed economic model? We just don't know."
Andy Burnham has put his career and reputation on the line to demonstrate an ability to beat Reform in a tight marginal. This is exactly the kind of courage Labour needs if it is to win the next election.
