Etihad threatening to sue. UAE reportedly intimating that UK investment could be pulled. A Prime Minister couching any criticisism. If this sorry saga doesn't convince you that state ownership of football clubs should never be allowed, nothing ever will.
This is as damning as it gets. There's no coming back from this. They are guilty of everything that everyone knew they were doing.
The football world cannot allow them to continue to participate in elite competition.

Last thing on Man City, a club that was relegated in 2001, claimed that in 2011, a decade later, they’re on financial levels with Man Utd, Real Madrid and such.
Hilarious levels of playing in peoples faces.
Fought against the Frauds Man City
Fought against Alex Ferguson’s biased refs
Fought against Chelsea’s unlimited spending
Fought against his own board when ambition was lacking and money was extremely limited
He built the entire club brick by brick. ❤️
It’s wild, it’s genuinely the biggest scandal in the history of football and maybe even sport overall.
Nothing they did since 2008 counts for anything. Nothing they achieved means anything.
Same Arsene Wenger who warned ManCity in 2009 on financial scams said in 2005 that Manchester United would be a mid table club if VAR existed
You guys will respect Arsene Wenger by force 😂😂
OLIVER HOLT: Man City have been exposed as the most famous cheats in English sporting history. The gory details revealed by the Premier League leave no doubt - nothing less than relegation will suffice for this sinister, dishonest club https://t.co/BfIv5NPlS9
"It is unfair competition when a club can spend unlimited money that doesn't come from its own football activities... Clubs like Manchester United have built their power over decades through success and fanbase."
"Manchester United generates its own resources. They spend money that they create from their own turnover... Manchester City is living in a different world. It is not tied to financial reality."
- Arsene Wenger 2009
In an ideal world:
- City are fined £900m, with every penny going to infrastructure across the football pyramid.
- They’re relegated from the Premier League, the EFL refuses to admit them, and they start again in non-league.
- The owners are disqualified, the club is sold, and everyone affected sues.
🤞
Prophetic from Arsène Wenger speaking in 2011 - “We face rivals who do not respect the financial fair play, and instead of us being accused, maybe people should look somewhere else” 🎥
No longer should it be a debate about whether the Premier League would dare to drum out Manchester City. Now the question takes another form: how can you justify anything else?
Attitudes can only harden now the first official judgment has been published, subject to an appeal, and the sheer scale of deception is clear.
No other club has swindled English football so brazenly. Nobody has gone about it in such a devious and heavy-handed fashion. It has disfigured years of competition and, for that alone, City’s supporters should probably brace themselves for the heaviest of punishments.
Enough to bring about relegation? At this stage, it feels increasingly inevitable and justified.
Let’s be clear, City deserve what is surely coming.

City's statement is laughable. The threatening nature of it in keeping with how the club has been conducting it's shadowy business for years.
Where is this 'comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence'??
Clearly, given the findings of the Premier League and now the independent commission, they need to look up what comprehensive and irrefutable means.
Arsène Wenger:
🗣️ “There was a time we had £90 million turnover and we had to pay back £22 million per year for the stadium. I couldn’t sleep because we had to qualify for the Champions League to pay back the money.”
🗣️ “We had to sell our best players. Other clubs came in with lots of money but we were on the same level from 2007 to 2016.”
This is why so many Arsenal fans will forever defend Wenger.
While rivals were spending freely, Arsenal were carrying the weight of the Emirates project. Every summer meant losing key players and finding ways to remain competitive enough to secure Champions League football.
🔴 Sold stars
🔴 Balanced the books
🔴 Built a world-class stadium
🔴 Kept Arsenal among Europe’s elite
Wenger didn't just manage Arsenal through that era. He carried the club through one of the most difficult financial periods in its history.
The trophies are part of his legacy. But so is the fact that Arsenal emerged from that period stronger, financially stable and ready to compete again.
Arsène Wenger was talking about “financial doping” years ago.
He was mocked, dismissed and accused of being bitter because Arsenal weren’t winning anymore.
Now Manchester City have been found guilty of the vast majority of the Premier League’s financial charges.
I hope the apologies are as loud as the disrespect was back then.
Without Wenger's sacrifices, there is no Arsenal of today.
Gary Neville & Jamie Carragher complained more about Nicolas Jover standing in the technical area for set pieces than they have about Manchester City being found guilty of 114 financial breaches, by the way. It should tell you everything you need to know.
It’s good that we’re getting towards a conclusion to this City stuff, but the punishment also feels like a massive mess.
I’m intrigued as to what the Premier League do.
At the bare minimum - relegation, and on top of that - Man City cannot be allowed to continue with the current owners.
You can’t have Man City competing with the same owners that were part of this whole process, anything they do from here on out is tainted.
One season out of the PL doesn’t feel like enough though.
The amount of fraud and unfair competition in the years it happened is bad enough, but essentially they have continued to profit from it ever since. They can’t go and spend £300m on a new midfield this season if it wasn’t for what happened in the past.
Meanwhile other clubs are having to sell some of their best players because they’re playing by the rules.
You can’t give them multiple points deductions to relegate them every time they come up because that makes a mockery of the Championship and PL.
I don’t think it’s beyond possibility that they are kicked out of the football league.
That feels very harsh on fans and staff at the club, and I don’t know how I feel about it - but at the same time, how many staff and fans of other clubs have been shafted because of Man City?
They competed on an unfair level and pushed the prices up for everyone - not just transfer fees and wages but also for fans, someone has to pay for it eventually.
Talk of one relegation, a £100m fine, European bans. It’s just nowhere near enough. This is the biggest scandal the Premier League has ever seen. We’ve all spent 15 odd years watching and spending money on a sham every week.
Honestly, not one single trophy they’ve won should be allowed to stand.
