@naval This depends on the definitions you have and thresholds you hold for the terms "functioning" and "merit." Many if not most of the largest institutions seems anything but merit based.

Like everything, people differ in their susceptibility to, and experience of, fear, doubt, and insecurity. It is NOT the same or anything close to a level playing field as implied. We are as diverse in this regard as we are everything else.
