A trader thinks that the prices of eggs are going to increase, and so he contacts his broker and asks him to buy 1,000,000 egg futures at $1.70
Sure enough, a week later, the price of egg futures is $2.50, and the trader, happy to ride his winners, places an order for 3,000,000 more egg futures
Next month, at $4.30 a piece, he pats himself on the back and restructures his liquid investments to buy another 10,000,000 egg futures
At the end of the quarter, egg futures are trading at $7, and the trader finally calls up his broker and tells him to sell them all
The broker replies: “To who? You’re the egg man!”
I think every investor should read this letter from Jeff Bezos when Amazon's stock fell -80% back in 2000.
It will teach you a lot about emotional discipline & irrational markets:
Linda Raschke studied game theory - and beat the market for 45 years.
If you don’t understand this concept, you will never become a consistently profitable trader....
(Save it for later)📌
In 2021, Stanley Druckenmiller explained how he compounded at 30% for 30 years straight.
He broke down why:
- Winning isn’t about being right
- Markets reward puzzle-solvers
- Entitlements threaten youth
12 lessons from Druckenmiller on markets, risk and the future of America:
Stanley Druckenmiller is one of the most successful investors who has ever lived. If you invested $10,000, he would have turned into $26,000,000.
His key to success?
"I like putting all my eggs in one basket and then watching the basket very carefully"

Charlie Munger decia:
"If all you ever did was buy high-quality stocks on the 200-week moving average, you would beat the S&P 500 by a large margin over time. The problem is, few human beings have that kind of discipline."

“You don’t need 20 right decisions to get very rich. 4 or 5 will probably do it…” “It’s a terrible mistake to think you have to have an opinion on everything.”
— Warren Buffett
In 1985, Warren Buffett sat down for his most iconic interview ever.
If you want to understand the psychology of wealth, this is 10 minutes of pure gold.
Save this rare footage, you’ll be coming back to it.
All conventional advice about parenting is so terrible if you’re successful. Also the opinions are totally worthless as well as it’s designed for the typical person
You can even see general talents before age 1. Most just “wing it” though. That never works out. Cycle repeats
Just shopped around for car insurance, same policy limits:
- Geico: $163/mo
- Mercury: $224/mo
- Farmers: $255/mo
- Allstate: $295/mo

@ScottAdamsSays "This is a way of looking at the world. Don't think of it as true or false.
It's simply a frame or a filter you can put on the world that either works and helps you understand things or it doesn't."

The best protocol to eliminate filler words (ummms etc.) These are otherwise very difficult to eliminate b/c they happen reflexively. Matt Abrahams on the Huberman Lab podcast out now all about how to speak clearly and with confidence.
My girlfriend’s (at the time) Mom gave me this book. It was 2012. I was 21 and had dropped out of college. I’d sold my cell phone (lasted ~5 months) to see what life would be like. This was before I’d ever traveled internationally and I was considering driving around the U.S. and just camping at national parks. I was lost. This book changed my life forever.
There are 100s of quotes I could choose from… but maybe the one I remember best, and that taught me that you can just do things, is:
“The law of gravity and gravity itself did not exist before Isaac Newton… and what that means is that that law of gravity exists nowhere except in people's heads! It 's a ghost! Mind has no matter or energy but they can't escape its predominance over everything they do. Logic exists in the mind. numbers exist only in the mind. I don't get upset when scientists say that ghosts exist in the mind… science is only in your mind too… that doesn't make it bad. or ghosts either.
Laws of nature are human inventions, like ghosts. Law of logic, of mathematics are also human inventions, like ghosts.
...we see what we see because these ghosts show it to us, ghosts of Moses and Christ and the Buddha, and Plato, and Descartes, and Rousseau and Jefferson and Lincoln, on and on and on. Isaac Newton is a very good ghost. One of the best. Your common sense is nothing more than the voices of thousands and thousands of these ghosts from the past.”
The impact of a book always depends on where you’re at in life when you come across it. Maybe it would be boring or less profound now that I’m older, have kids, etc.
Need to read it again…
