@BendelowGreens Possible? Yes. Likely?

[JJohannsen @JSJo31]

@bluecubbie1 On average, less than 50% of the HS golfers in Iowa play in Jr tournaments. It’s usually the kids that aspire to play past high school.

Intro
Lifelong competitive golfer. Professionally: Background in sales leadership, incentives, tradeoffs, and process design/management. Last year I led the host club’s effort for the IHSAA 4A Boys State Golf Tournament and saw behind the curtain. Iowa HS golf needs a fix. 🧵

Some great conversations and discussions about this week!

@JSJo31 @IHSAA @IowaPGA Hope. I was marker for a girl’s district in Fort Dodge many years ago. I had girl for a 12. She said, “No, I had a 13. I barely bumped the ball in the rough and you wouldn’t have seen it.”. She was from Glidden-Ralston. Good on her!

@JSJo31 If there are coach’s who don’t know the game let alone the integrity of the game then they shouldn’t be coaching the game.

So much this!

@JSJo31 The @IHSAA has an astounding history at not being able to competently run a golf tournament for quite some time. Hopefully these allegations of cheating get the attention it deserves and the governing body makes a change. It’s unlikely, but hey - maybe I’m wrong 🤷🏽‍♂️

Spot on 👏 this amazing game has grown so much in the last 5 years. However, the reasons that makes this game so great are not being taught to newcomers & youth. Course etiquette & rules need to be the standard before someone even steps on a golf course.

[Newton News Sports @NDNSports1]

I believe the only two sports in Iowa high school level that don't have actual officials are Tennis and Golf.

Just returned from having our daughter participate in @nsaahome state golf for the third time.

Awesome event!! Great volunteers and awesome support from @NGAgolf for live scoring and tournament administration. I mean, like, AWESOME.

Soon, Class A will be voting to REMOVE scoring monitors from their state event. Other classes could follow. I believe it would be the absolute wrong move.

We have junior golf as good as we have ever had it here. Let’s not ruin that with what happened in Iowa the last couple of weeks.

Great areas of consideration and conversation components. SEVERAL areas-extremely easy to implement with numerous rewards/benefits in doing so as such. ⛳️🐉

[Iowa Tennis @iowahstennis]

@JSJo31 Should do the same for tennis. People who don’t know how to score the sport are making decisions. Should not be the case!

[Ross Peterson @RossPeterson_]

Worth the read if you’ve been following the Iowa High School Golf issues.

[Michigan Golf Live @mglbill]

Worth the read because this isn’t just an Iowa issue

[JJohannsen @JSJo31]

@CorsonCole Agree. IA PGA governs the process of selection and certification of the scorers for consistency.

[JJohannsen @JSJo31]

@tony_chapman76 @nsaahome @NGAgolf The control is what ensures it’s great!

[Doug North @GolfCoachNorth]

@JSJo31 There are MASSIVE learning lessons in watching golf. Elite players need to observe to see how bad decisions get made and big numbers show up on scorecards.

Happy to help if/how I can!
