Grade 1/2 built aluminium foil boats for one of our buoyancy experiments! Students were asked to design and construct their boats, and then make predictions about how many penny’s it will take to sink their boats!
What are these snowmen thinking and feeling? Are we stacking them tall or wide? We are comparing using measurement vocabulary and practicing building and creating stories!
Grade 1/2 have been exploring 2D shapes, and created a design for a shape monster! Students built real life replicas using their designs, and also wrote about what shapes were used to build our monsters.
Today 2 Elves from the North Pole came to our class. They will come everyday till Break! We named them by random draw and they asked us to use the picture to tell a story. The kids are BEYOND excited to have new friends in our class that will challenge their learning!
In the past, students have listens to Elders and Indigenous storytellers share the traditional story of Napi and the Rock. The Calgary Philharmonic collaborated with the Making of Treaty 7 Cultural Society to bring a virtual performance combining music and drama.
